Almost as bad as Dev's and Vernon's golfing friend. Played by the same actor who played Dev's father about three years ago, if I'm not mistaken?.

Don't know about Dev's father but he did play Guppy's father in Casualty if that's what you're thinking of.

I hope I'm wrong in thinking he could be the father in the new Asian family we've been promised...

I don't watch Casualty I'm afraid...

However Madhav Sharma did play Dev's father in a 2004 appearance (Google abides)-- I recall that was for the Dev & Sunita wedding.

I can confirm Madhav is now playing Prem Mandal, it would appear he's the father of the new Asian family. He's the husband of Nina-- she arrives next week.
Wikipedia rumour has it that Dev has an affair with Nina

Quoth Wikipedia: "Prem, who runs a successful floor-cleaning business, remembered Dev from a Trades association meeting. Prem took Dev under his wing, as he said Dev reminded him of a younger version of himself. Dev would soon become further involved in Prem's life"

Woah... has anyone else seen that awful wallpaper in Gail's house? Looks terrible to me! It's the sort of house (...or set?) that would suit plain coloured walls rather than the textured pattern they've put up.

Nice to see Jack having some regular appearances of late btw.

I agree, and the ending last night with Jack was very moving. The proposal storyline was some much needed light relief but also very sweet as well (although im still not liking Auntie Pam)

Better episodes of Corrie last night, it has been a bit boring recently with not a lot of interest happening and if im honest ive actually preferred Emmerdale Shocked (and I wasnt even watching Emmerdale this time last year)

Emmerdale? Wash your mouth out Wink Actually E'dale isn't that bad these days IMO, although I'm an infrequent viewer.

I thought the Tyrone and Molly engagement was a great bit of farce, but as you say touching-- nice how they still refer to Vera on occasion.

Aunty Pam and her ham (how apt!). To me, Pam is just another one of those pointless extra characters that feature prominently for a few months than mysteriously vanish. Such as George, Ivan, Doreen and Yana-- what's happened to them?

Yes Emmerdale has improved - ive been back watching it since the start of the year after about 18 months of not watching (apart from the occasional episode)

Emmerdale was unmissable in the mid to late 1990s during the Kim Tate era - but over the last 2-3 weeks ive found the storylines in Emmerdale more interesting than Corrie. Corrie will always be my favourite tho Wink

Yes it was mentioned in one of the soap magazines that
Dev has an affair with Nina

I enjoy the references to Vera, it keeps her character 'alive' despite Liz Dawn's departure. I do think that the Molly/Tyrone engagement debacle went on for about 3 episodes longer than it needed to.

Unfortunately, Aunty Pam is one of those ill-thought out, 'never-heard-of-before-relatives' casually lifted from the scriptwriters' bin who is brought in for no apparent reason and will (hopefully) disappear as ignominiously.

There are plenty of other options for a new character in the Dobbs-Compton-Duckworth household. A completely unknown lodger to help Molly pay for her new luxury bathroom, perhaps?. It certainly didn't need to be Aunty Pam with her background of selling knock-off ham and plastic novelty chinese-speaking eggs. Confused

Are you guys serious? Emmerdale is the most far-fetched, over-dramatic of all the soaps IMO (apart from my beloved EastEnders of course Wink ). I mean, only last week we saw a random acts of madness with Katie leaving hospital with her baby without being checked out, Genesis wrecking the Vets surgery in "panic" whilst looking for the medical cabinet then stone the crows, she runs over the damn sheep on her moped and ends up framing Eli for robbery. Everything always happens all at once in Emmerdale and add to that the constant circle zooms and tension music...per-lease.

Anyway, back to Corrie.. is Dev still married then?

I’m sure you realised that all of those scenes in Emmerdale were intended to add a comedy element – not represent any true aspect of country life in a North Yorkshire village! Gennie creating havoc in the Vet’s Surgery was a (very weak) comedy tool designed to bring her closer to the Dingle ethos of being anti-establishment and anti-law enforcement. She didn't 'frame' Eli - he'd done the warehouse robbery anyway, but with 'Dingle Luck' was caught because of Gennie and the arrival of the police.

Actually it was Perdita who walked unchallenged from the hospital carrying a baby, which was hers according to the legal agreement with the surrogate mother. I’m not surprised she went unchallenged, though. Do they ask for ID when everyone leaves your local hospital these days?

He’s never mentioned a divorce from the lucky Sunita, although no doubt she could’ve cited ‘untimely and unacceptable animal noises’ as justifiable grounds; he would find it hard to challenge this during a cross-examination lasting more than 90 seconds. The ever reliable “wiki” claims that Dev is divorced though!

Really? I must remember to laugh next time. Wink I find the Dingles great don't get me wrong but I just found that scene ridiculous. But anyway, Emmerdale is always hit and miss with me. And yes, it was Perdy not Katie sorry. I'm not surprised she walked out either but I just thought she'd have been noticed by a nurse or something. Confused

I'm sure all Mothers leaving a hospital are watched, just to check that they are only carrying their own. Rest easy Mr nok, mistakes don't happen that often as in soaps!

I thought that too - she also walked out carrying nothing else but the baby - no bags, nothing. Shame Perdy has left, one of the better characters (and actresses) in the show IMO.

I seem to recall a divorce being mentioned a while back; it would make sense, considering Sunita adamantly wanted to cut ties with Dev after she discovered his 'harem'

Regarding Emmerdale (!): I'm not a die-hard fan (watch infrequently-- depends who's on The Waaan Show ), but I was just commenting that it's OK these days (IMO)-- I wasn't trying to imply it was the best thing on telly or anything Wink

I think E'dale's melodramatic nature is part of its appeal. I find its OTT attitude quite endearing in a way; I love the way it sometimes verges into Acorn Antiques territory but still retains (some?) credibility.

In my mind, you have on one end of the scale Eastenders-- which is funereal and macabre. Then you have E'dale on the other end of the scale-- soap-opera meets panto quite often. I think Coro sits nicely in the middle of the drama/comedy... or ought to...
