So, the storyline about her mugging was a hoax? Or was it cancelled because it was leaked out?

It isn't supposed to happen until Novemeber anyway is it?

if soaps pulled storylines everytime they were leaked in the press, they'd never be on

Besides, very often the programme makers leak the storylines themselves to attract viewers.

I really thought that advert was a complete waste of time, and rather insulting to the viewers. Do these advertisers really think we're so brain dead as not to realise it was shot a few months ago?

Why was it insulting to the viewers ? Get a grip, it's only a laugh. And it wasn't a complete waste of time because it appears to have had you watching through the duration of the ad break and even discussing it on an internet forum. In that respect it's achieved its purpose and raised the profile of McCain in your psyche.

Why you so upset about it, where you secretly taken in ?

One source is saying Vera will be killed off, another is saying she will leave with Jack and they will come into money.

However I think Teletext are usually more accurate and they are reporting that Liz has signed a contract to be on the show until August 2005, so maybe her and Jack will leave then?

Also digital spy is reporting that Corrie are considering a spin off about Todd - oh please if we must have a spin off lets have an actor that can actually ACT!

Read in the mirror, there's going to be a domestic violence storyline, with shelly and charlie, seems a good storyline, and ITV are worried about the harrowing scenes in the show, that they'll be screening a helpline after the episodes, for viewers wanting to get in contact.

Well I would love for Suranne to win best actress, I think she has a good chance, if not her then Tina O Brien. Sam Aston should win best newcomer, and of course I want Corrie to get Best Soap, and I think they should this year. Please dont let EE walk away with it for the 4th time in a row. Rolling Eyes
However I want one of the non soap people to win Best Actor, as I dont think Bruno deserves it as he cant act. But Nigel Harmen is bound to get that as all the teen girls will be voting.

Anyway, for a full list of the nominees from all 13 categories and your chance to vote visit the NTA section of the ITV Website.

At least it's not defined as "Best Soap" award.

I thought it was insulting to the viewers as they really expected us to believe something which was so obviously a spoof, and not a very good one at that. Had they not gone to such lengths to tell us it was genuine (including taking out radio ads to promote it in advance), it might have been a bit funnier. Also, please don't patronise me by telling me to get a grip. I'm just saying I thought it was really lame, that's all.

I watched through the ad break because I wanted to see the second half of Corrie surprisingly enough. And yes, I'm talking about it on here, but I'm not rushing out to buy oven chips am I?

Er, no... and I'm not upset. I just thought it was a crap ad.

... Actually, a spokeswoman for Corrie (when interviewwed by the Yorkshire Evening Post) said: "What?!? This leak is outrageous. I cannot and will not comment further." Sums it up, really, doesn't it? I hope it does happen, though - it'd be interesting to see how a character like Vera would cope with the after-effects of the attack.

I doubt the Corrie press office 'leaked' this one...

Typical Mirror. Didn't they just have to pay out damages to the ex-boyzone chappy for making a story like this up?

Worth dropping this in here I reckon, from The Sun:

Quote:
CORRIE cutie Chesney Brown has struck a megabucks deal to stay on The Street — and he’s still only ELEVEN. Sam Aston became soap’s highest-paid child actor after winning fans and a string of awards as wide-eyed waif Chesney.

Last night an insider said: “Sam was originally signed up for a short period of time, but has proved hugely popular — as well as being a very good actor. Producers were determined to sign him for another year. They are lining up more strong storylines for him and will make him into an even bigger star.”

Viewers have seen Chesney mistreated and abandoned by evil mum Cilla Brown (Wendi Peters) and become unlikely pals with Les Battersby (Bruce Jones). He also made headlines when he was forced to shoplift from Rita (Barbara Knox) who slapped him — and landed herself in court.

Schoolboy Sam — who started out in the Werther’s Originals adverts — has collected a clutch of gongs this year. And he is favourite to win Best Newcomer at the National TV Awards — the youngest star ever nominated. Competition includes Patsy Kensit, Emmerdale’s Sadie King, and Tracy-Ann Oberman — EastEnders’ Chrissie Watts.

Two of Sam’s seven brothers and sisters have also appeared in Corrie. Joseph played Tommy Duckworth, while Emily was Beckie Palmer. Sam said: “It's brilliant being in Coronation Street — all my mates are really jealous.”

For what it's worth: £40k to make him the "highest paid child actor in soap". Make of that what you will.
