Has anybody noticed that flash Tony Gordon has been missing for ages? Obviously not, particularly Carla.

Well he was back yesterday, with wheelchair in tow !?

Yes, sorry - I hadn't seen the second episode when I wrote that!

I hope this new family will be better than the other recent ones which have never worked - granted the Connors were OK but I suppose they're different as there's no kids involved (except Ryan).

Yes I think I liked the Connors because they were different from the usual parents and 2 kids family which we generally had before.

What I'm really enjoying, is the transformation of Leanne. She's gone from brattish teenager, to tart with a heart-- and now she's become a serious, but compassionate, businesswoman.

Back in the day the "Owerleyanne" used to annoy me, but I now I quite like her. I think they've 'matured' her quite well.

They are showing The Unforgettable Pat Phoenix tomorrow evening at 5.30pm on ITV1. Pat, of course, was in Coronation Street (on and off) from the very first episode until1984.

Also there is an episode of Corrie at 7pm tomorrow evening and Monday's double episode will start at 8pm with Emmerdale taking the 7.30pm slot.

That's great, I've been waiting to see this programme for a long while. I managed to catch some of the other "The Unforgettable.." shows before and they were quite good, very informative, so I'm looking forward to this one about Pat.

I think this programme was made around 2001 but I remember it was shown last Christmas when ITV1 were repeating a lot of these Unforgettable shows during the daytime schedule.

Helen Worth was one of those contributing to this programme.

It was made in 2000 in 4:3. Very good documentary.

It was indeed. It struck me whilst watching it how desperately Corrie needs a character like Elsie Tanner again. I don't mean a carbon copy of Pat Phoenix, I mean a character with whom the audience can really relate to... someone with a big bravado in front of others but vunerable when alone. I can't really think of a current or recent character like this.

Yeah those sort of stalwarts came to an end when Bet left really. Incidentally Pat is featured in How TV Changed Britain tonight at 8pm on Channel 4.

I noticed a lot of scenes rewritten in Blanche's absence tonight but still allowed for great banter between Kenneth and Deirdre!

How about Becky? (although obviously not anywhere near as good a character as Elsie Tanner was)

I agree, a very enjoyable documentary, even tho ive seen it before. I was filling up with tears when that news report came on reporting Pat's death - that was very moving.

And tonights Corrie was reasonably good as well - nice to see the return of Liam, our hero. Wink And the episode was set on a Sunday as well, not just tomorrow's first episode brought forward to tonight.

It was on tonight? Why? Can't they just leave it on mon-wed-fri and just miss out episodes when the football is on?

I don't spend my life glued to the TV or the schedules so it really pisses me off when they pop the odd one on a Sunday coz generally the TV's off. Rolling Eyes

Caught a glimpse of the opening titles this evening. Could somebody tell me if the director's name "ILLY" is a piss-take?
