I think its more of a case of introducing the right family. Often in the soaps ive watched (Corrie, Emmerdale, Brookside) 90% of the time new families introduced have failed. Hollyoaks seems to have done well with the Ashworth and McQueen families. Its a bit hit and miss really, Hollyoaks have been lucky.

The Connors IMO worked as it wasnt the usual family set up of parents and kids but siblings. It was only recently the parents were introduced and they were only in it a short time.

When Liam goes I assume Maria will move elsewhere so yes Number 6 and 7 could have new families move in.

Im glad they have kept Mel's police job to a minimum on screen in Corrie - Over at Emmerdale it feels like im watching The Bill half the time with at least 3 regular characters police officers!

Tom Connor (cousin of Liam who we saw at the stag do / wedding) is joining Corrie to take over the factory when Liam departs.

I was hoping we'd see more of him - not a patch on lovely Liam though

With regards to Dev. He really is just there to make noises and do poor impressions of things now isn't he. Even him bantering with Betty the other day was pointless.

I'd be interested to know who exactly rents the Battersbys as Kirk was only a sub tenant.

I've been waiting for "Mortons axed" headlines since they were introduced. I'm glad they've realised the mistake - with one exception - I'm growing to like Daryl, he works well with David (who needs a male counterpart of his own age). As for Sinbad and the dull police woman - good riddance!

Dan isn't so bad now he's with Leanne, it's his father I can't stand. But Dev really does have to go he's just become ridiculous.

I hope the new producer shares the work around more so that we see more of Lloyd, Eileen, Kirk etc

They need to introduce characters one or two at a time usually, the whole Morton clan and the scary grandad was too much.

I enjoyed last night's episodes, some good lines from Kirk and his new girlfriend seems ok - although I'm not sure she's a long-term character. Is she there to bring Fiz & Kirk back together?
