I think also it's partly the announcer's fault as well by saying things to emphasise the cliffhanger. I mean, yeah, the cliffhangers are bad but it could end on just "continues in half an hour" but no. Obviously Corrie is ITV's golden goose and regardless of whether it gets high viewing figures, they'll still plug it to death and use it as foil for other programmes.

I agree, its the announcers that make it far worse, I dont see why they need to say anything at all, it says on the screen "continues in half an hour".

It's a wonder now they haven't worked it into the scripts - "I'll tell you in half an hour".

will freddie cack his nappy, join us in half an hour

well half the country managed to miss the final episode of reach for the moon which continued three minutes later so the want to make sure no body misses it 30 minutes later

because it's just so unmissable Rolling Eyes

REET! First appearance since 18th February - 2 scenes in the pub and then I saw her as an extra in another scene sitting with Harry the bookie, whilst Norris was trying to find out what happened from Leanne.

Anyway tonights episodes were really good IMO- the fire and the aftermath were very well done, Jane Danson was excellent throughout and it was nice to see Amber having a bigger part in the show.

Also some great scenes from Becky and Roy again - quite disappointed they didnt show them playing scrabble together! Laughing

I was disappointed with a lack of animal noises from Dev tonight though!

how pathetic was that scene with Amy nearly getting run over, like you stand in the middle of the road chatting with your 4 year old grandaughter and just let her wander off, then everybody waves at her because she looks so cute standing there in the middle of the road about to become transit van fodder Rolling Eyes

and of couse it's the drivers fault because every qualified driver knows you have to keep you eyes out for small little girls stood in the road waving at their dopy grandparents Confused

Why is it they always seem to make an issue of Deirdre smoking? I mean, does nobody else in Weatherfield smoke?

I agree, much better last night with a variety of stories bubbling away.

I was looking forward to the scrabble too - that could've been very funny if they'd bothered to take it that far - why set it up and not let it play out?

The Steve and Craig Charles (I'll never remember the character's name...) scene in the cab office made me long for more of the comedy we used to get between Steve/Eileen and erm.. "Craig"...

Please Corrie - exploit more of the potential comedy situations (garage/ Kabin / cafe / cab office).

Great lines for Blanche again "... in that case make it a double...".

Well I think Deirdre has been trying to give up, it was running joke for a while I seem to recall-- especially on Ken's part. Deirdre always used to retort that Ken had a caffeine addiction; I remember Ken trying to give up coffee, but he became insufferable as a result Laughing

So Ken agreed Deidre could carry on smoking as long as he could have his caffeine fix. I think Deirdre has ostensibly tried to quit since then, which is why you often see her sneaking out for fags and being 'rumbled' in some amusing way.

I suspect your second question is rhetorical; but Steve, Janice and Liz smoke I believe.

Good Blanchism last night, Noris denouncing speed bumps as ugly and unsightly, so Blanche replied: "So are you. But at least speed ramps have a use".

Yes they do Blanche, especially against speeding vans doing 15 mph, and careless grandparents.

Speaking of which, will Liz stray with Harry? Uuuur nuur.
