Corrie is definally back at it's best tonight, lots of funny lines with Blanche, Roy and Becky, Lloyd and Steve

It's a shame they had to provide another pointless "padding" scene for Dev. If he's not making ridiculous animal sounds he's being pseudo-camp. He's become irritating beyond bearable now.

I think Dev has been taking lessons from the Marlon Dingle Academy of Hamminess Wink Okayeeeeeeeeeee?

The Becky and Roy pairing is inspired, such chalk and cheese characters. I can see them having a positive effect on each other; perhaps Becky will become an oracle, whilst a hitherto unseen wild side of Roy will emerge. I bet Hayles won't know what's hit her when she comes back

A great "in my day" rant from Blanche, regarding leotards. Dick Whiteley would be proud Wink

Also a deft bit of breaking the fourth wall from Carla: "I couldn't see myself as a footballer's wife". Didn't she play a footballer's wife in Dream Team ? Wink Next Carla will say she hates Daz Laughing

From All About Soap;

Bye Bye Baldwin!

Danny Baldwin will not be returning to Coronation Street after actor Bradley Walsh was released from his contract. Bradley was due to come back for a short time but he delayed his return to star in panto and now wont be appearing at all. We'd still love to see his missus, Frankie, back one day, though......

Sad

Thank god for that - there was absolutely no reason for him to return now, especially with Jamie leaving.

I'd still love to see Frankie back though myself - the best landlady the Rovers never had!

I'm not sure if I have missed an episode somewhere but what happened to these storylines?

- Amber's elbow. She had quite a nasty rash but the writers seem to have forgotten this. Did she get some cream?

- Dev's massive razor. Dev purchased an oversized (novelty?) razor. What did he do with it? I can imagine it being as big as Timmy Mallet's Mallet and Dev carrying it in to the Rovers. This could have been a great storyline but it didn't seem to go anywhere.

Why start storylines and then not finish them?

Ah yeah, but I think that was just Steve trying to change the subject to avoid Vernon's singing. Laughing Unless you're being ironic.

Well her character, Lynda Block, actually married the chairman of Harchester United in Dream Team and then became the chairperson herself when her husband left. However the character did sleep with a few of the footballers I think! Wink

Oh I wouldnt - I hated the character. And whats the big deal about her taking over the Rovers? She was never even a barmaid and she certainly wouldnt be my idea of a good landlady.

Yes, I understand the fact that Steve was changing the subject but was he just lying? Surely, something should have happened with the story.

In real life, Vernon would have asked Dev about his massive razor at the first opportunity. After this, there are many possiblities for the story line.

Dev could say he doesn't know what Steve is talking about (Steve was lying) or Dev would tell Vernon all about the massive razor (Steve was telling the truth) or they could even have Steve asking Dev to play along and then they could use one of the Monday or Friday double episodes to concentrate on Steve and Dev trying to find a massive razor so that Vernon wouldn't think they were lying.

I never quite understood that giant razor statement from Steve either. It was a bit random.

I'm sure Harry Hill can explain all.

I'm obviously not missing out on much then - don't think I've seen a full episode since Vera's death.

I know ITV liked to go on about making it less of a commitment for viewers by having it on fewer nights, but personally I think I'd be more inclined to watch episodes if it's just 30 minutes at a time - the double episodes are basically a 90-minute commitment.

The thing with Dev's razor was just a way of them all avoiding Vernon going on about whatever it was he was going on about. Liam joined in on the coversation about the razor as well! I dont think Vernon was really paying attention anyway about the razor, he was just gutted they werent interested in listening to him and walked off looking disappointed.

Well I would prefer 4 x 30 minute episodes per week as well, but if you tape the double eps and FF the ad breaks you can get through them in around 45 minutes.

What about Tina's elbow (not Amber's as I incorrect said previously)? Was that for Vernon's benefit too?

Well I assume that whatever was wrong with Tina's elbow cleared itself up. No real reason to mention it. Of course it was all just a plot device for Tina to attend the medical centre so she could meet (and annoy) Gail.

Yeah I think the razor thing was just an inconsequential bit of non-sequitur humour, to mercifully divert us from Vernon's music abilities (or lack thereof!). Similar to Amber's elbow, just a droll aside from Dev's chosen farmyard-impersonation of the day

A bit of postmodern fragmentation you might say. Or perhaps the writers of Coro have been watching Acorn Antiques too much!

Thanks for clearing that up about Lynda Block BTW Jez; more footballer's bike than footballer's wife then Wink
