Audrey told Gail in 2000 that her father was a soldier whom she left without telling him she was pregnant, so Gail has never known her father. Could be a very good storyline.
Except that it's yet another storyline with the Platts in it - can't we have a break from them for a couple of months?
And why couldn't there be a month or so before Ryaaaan decided he wanted to see his biological father?

Except in 1979 when Audrey was first introduced she told Elsie Tanner that she left Gail's father when she was born as he was useless. They change the characters history to suit themselves far too often - Mike having a brother was ridiculous when it was always said he was an only child.
I agree with Pootle5 - the Platts have had non stop storylines since 2000 they need to be rested.

I thought Gail's dad would have been killed off years ago anyway. Could be an interesting storyline but pointless all the same. We'll wait and see. I was thinking the other day, how old is Audrey supposed to be? 65?
As for Les getting killed off, it's a shame Bruce ruined his Corrie career really but at least they're not going to have him touring with a rock band or whatever he's supposed to be doing at the moment for years on end.

And didn't Gail initially say her parents were together (according to corrie.net)? So yes, it seems they've changed the characters past twice over.
It would be nice but I do like the Platts. I'm a big fan of theirs and they're incredibly reliable when it comes to the big dramatic scenes. No matter how many times they've been used, their scenes on Friday were ten times better than anything we've seen from Michelle, Ryan et al.
I would like to see the focus shifted on to Eileen though who has been crying out for a big storyline of her own for some time now. Sue Cleaver is a terrific actress and deserves to have a storyline of her own, rather than just playing a part in Todd's or Jason's or Sean's or Violet's etc. I'd like to see some more of the Websters as well - but by the Websters I mean Sally, Kevin and Sophie. Rosie can go hide in her room and never come down again for all I care.

I think she did. I certainly remember one scene on the DVD box set from around 76 where Gail had been named in a divorce case and Mavis said to her 'arent you worried about what your mam and dad will think'? Of course its quite possible Mavis might not have known the situation. But obviously in 76 they didnt know they would later introduce Gail's mother in 79.

Agreed, although I only really like Gail and Audrey. Im not a fan of David particularly. And wasnt that keen on Sarah and Martin either.
I agree it would also be good to see the Websters, especially Sally who im a huge fan of, get a storyline, as long as its not one of them having an affair.
Audrey was born in 1940 so is 67/68. She is a few years older than Sue who plays her. Gail was born in 1958 so is 50 this year.

David seems to become more orange by the episode.
