The irony is it's usually only when they try to disguise the product that the viewer notices it and where it comes from. ITV2 is the worst with American Idol and those blurred Coca-cola glasses - we probably wouldn't give them a second thought if they didn't go to the effort to obscure them.

Corrie wise though the idea of Bettabuys or Freshco's is something they could do with again - a location away from the Street featuring a few regulars.

Always liked it too in that period when they used the Weatherfield Arms / the Feathers quite frequently as an alternative venue - just offers something a little bit different and shows characters have a life away from the street.

Yes I liked the use of the Weatherfield Arms too. For a while they all went to the Clock restaurant too - what happened to that?

They was Delphine's before that too. I imagine Clock 'became' Leanne's new restaurant?

You never see the Red Rec anymore either (where was that in real life by the way?)

Anyone remember The Flying Horse or The Laughing Donkey? Both pubs featured in the show in the 70s and 80s. They havent mentioned The Flying Horse for quite some time. They often used to have friendly competitions between the 2 pubs e.g pub olympics in 1984 or the pram race in 1978!

The Laughing Donkey was run by Annie Walker's arch rival, Nellie Harvey.

Yeah I have a feeling either The Clock or Delphines's became Leanne's restaurant.

With places away from the Street itself like Fresco, The Red Rec, The Flying Horse, Weatherfield Arms etc they have more freedom to include them in the show as a when they want as they are in Weatherfield but not too close to the street itself.

It's just you I think. You have an extraordinary spatial awareness. You'd be a dab hand on the Krypton Factor.

Wasn't the Flying Horse run by Bet Lynch's friend, and chair of the Weatherfield Licenced Victuallers Association, Stella Rigby who appeared now and again?

No, Stella ran "The White Swan".

Stella was Bet's friend but there was always rivalry between then especially after Stella's husband made a play for Bet. Simular to Annie and Nellie's "friendship" really as im sure Nellie's husband also made a pass at Annie at one point! lol

I remember both Bet and Stella were furious when Liz McDonald was made manager of one of the brewary's best pubs, The Queen's.

Tonight's first episode was ok but crikey, one for Harry Hill in the second...

AUDREY: "Oh. I think Gail's had an accident?"
- HARRY: *sarcastic* Naaaoooooo?! *slaps forehead*

Bit sloppy oh and nice to see Alex's dad back again tonight...yawn.. Rolling Eyes

It was nice to see Betty though, saying that.

"The Clock" was an actual restaurant at the top end of King Street, in Manchester. Unfortunately I cannot what the real name was called but it closed down about 2 1/2 years ago. An interesting fact is that before it became a restaurant it was Rothwells bar - one which I frequented after work most Friday nights as well as Friday lunchtimes!!

Leanne's restaurant is more like how Delphine's was! Whatever happened to Delphine's?

IIRC there was a bit of "cross-mentioning" (whatever) where you had both Delphine's and The Clock being mentioned, and then for some reason Delphine's just disappeared. I preferred that to The Clock for some reason!

Fairly good episodes tonight - I have to say I quite enjoyed watching Gail slap Jason (alright, that sounds weird).. I didn't think much to her "forward-roll" after the last step though. Laughing Don't know why but I quite liked the various camera panning in tonight's episodes.. who directed? I didn't manage to catch the credit.

I thought it was brookside Embarassed

I knew Ricky Tomlinson was in there somewhere

Coronation Street my ar#e Wink

like the stedi-cam scene with Jason running down the street, pity the poor camera man having to run to keep up with him, heard those things are quite heavy.

read somewhere that Jack shepard was actually hit by the car whilst filming the scenes where he runs to Tina's
