Well, the Rovers has always been out of sync with reality; the loos lead into the house next door; the position of the lounge (off the hallway from the bar) goes way beyond the width of the exterior building. And we're expected to believe that there's a kitchen added on to the side of this? The problem is that they're maintaining continuity - this should have been sorted out years before the audience started getting more media-savvy!

The Rovers was even more out of sync before the great fire of 1986. They used to have a big function room (the Select) which in reality would have been the other side of the road on Rosamund Street. Post fire at least the bar is more or less the correct size, its just the living area which isnt.

All of the houses have a front room, its just the Websters is the only one that gets seen on screen regularly. Number 5 doesnt as the front and middle rooms were knocked into one back in 1976 by Fairclough and Langton. Number 7 also doesnt have a proper front room as this house was rebuilt (again by Fairclough) in 1982. All the other front rooms dont tend to get seen, but very occasionally we see Emily's and The Duckworths. The front rooms are handy for a spare bedroom, Uncle Albert used to use the front room at Number 1 as a bedroom after Deirdre and Tracy moved in in 1981.

The Post Office is pointless - we never see Reet or Norris in there. Its been forgotten about.

Is the Post Office counter still there, I can't recall seeing it recently. The signs outside now say 'The Kabin' again

If all the houses are from a terrace, why are they not identical?

The Barlows' has a kitchen walkthrough dining room;
The Duckworths' have the same, albeit bigger
Emily has a small kitchen;
Eileen has a larger kitchen but not walkthrough;
The Connors' has a small kitchen;
The Websters' have a large kitchen AND a front room!!!

To be fair that's quite common with old 2-up, 2-down, terrace houses where people have added extensions for kitchens over the years.

It says Post Office: The Kabin (as is usual for Post Offices)

I think "Post Office: Closing Soon" is probably more common. Though I think we'll keep the cabin and have Dev's corner shop empire crumble around him, forcing him into bankruptcy and leaving the Street in shame.

I think that could be a good story, the local Post Office closing.

Also what people were saying about the houses, didnt the Barlows use the front room as a bed room for a while?

Dev's corner shop will become a Fresco Local soon and the Kabin will be a Farks & Fencer's Fimply Food

When 'The Kabin' got a refit a few years back the Post Office counter was often seen on screen, with Norris behind there. However now it does seem non existent.

Norris is supposed to be the post master, and with his record in customer confidentiality Laughing

with reference to the layout of the terrace my gripe is why they have no cupboard under the stairs and the back wall of each back room is parallel with the stair case so there is an Inexplicable gap behind each flight of stairs

Quote:

.............................| wall_|
wall___________.|stairs |
|kitchen|back room|hall.....|

as for the individual interiors

Barlows = Blanche's room / lounge / kitchen extended across lounge
Emily's = parlour / lounge / small kitchen
Battersby's = knocked through hall, lounge, diner / small kitchen
Connor's = same as Battersby's but rebuilt as open plan
Duckworth's = Paul's room? / lounge with open kitchen
Eileen's = Sean's room / lounge / small kitchen
Websters = sitting room / dining room / small kitchen

yes I am a frustrated architect

Its still there, its just we dont seem to see the Kabin from that angle. Also the sign has reverted back to The Kabin as you say, which is correct. Small post offices which are part of a newsagents/general store tend to have just a small sign saying Post Office whilst the main shop name gets the main sign. Never understood why it changed to "Post Office" for.

Also the closing of the Post Office would be a good storyline - better than the tripe they gave Reet last year with Norris and Doreen. Whilst they are at it bring Mavis back - IMO the best double act in Corrie ever were Mave and Reet.

In some houses (Barlow and Webster) the cupboard under the stairs is accessed through the kitchen. They are ocassionally seen. In the Battersby-Brown residence the cupboard door is seen in the front room. The was a scene where Les was hiding something in there once.
