Coronation Street has been a more tranquil place since David Platt met Tina McIntyre, but we knew it wasn't a good idea to relax too soon.

According to the Daily Star, David (Jack P Shepherd) is set to crank his evil ways up to a new level when he pushes Gail down the stairs. And this isn't an accidental push - a "Corrie insider" says, "[David]literally throws Gail down the stairs and she is knocked out cold." The reason for this behaviour is that Tina aborts the baby she's expecting, without telling David she's pregnant. When he overhears Gail and Tina talking about it, he sees red and blames her. “These are some of the most dramatic scenes of the year," says the insider. "David’s rage is off the dial. Normally he takes his time plotting revenge on his enemies but on this occasion he snaps."

Gail recovers from her physical injuries, apparently, but her memory is affected, and David takes advantage of this to play evil mind games with her. Echoes of Richard Hillman there.

I hope this isn't true. Why can't they allow David to be happy for once - and take the attention off the Platts for 6 months.

Boring Boring Boring.

I agree with Jez about the wedding. The whole plot is predictable and dull.

I'm so fed up with false cliff-hangers at 8pm. Corrie's become less about characterisation, drama and comedy, and more about what will bring the viewers back at 8.30 or the latest sensational storyline.

Very true, its all filler, build up, cliffhanger of late.

I totally agree about the Platt's - even with Sarah gone it looks like they will be at the centre of the action yet again. They have hardly had a break from storylines since 2000.

I also agree about these double episodes - once a week they could just about get away with but now its twice a week. Its too much.

Kirk told Fiz he had a bad cold in Friday's episode (I think) and Fiz said she was going to have hiim to live with her. I can only assume he wasn't well although with Fiz and Kirk at the wedding it does beg the question who was looking after him.

I think they should put one on every day of the week.

A double episode? Why on earth would they do that?

I think he means one episode every day of the week à la Hollyoaks/Emmerdale.

Oh right. Well although im against it following the Emmerdale/Hollyoaks/Neigbbours schedule pattern and being on 5 consecutive nights anything is better than these doubles.

The trouble with Corrie is they never use these doubles to try anything different,

OK, it might not be traditional Corrie but it be great to see them do something other than cliffhanger at 8pm once in a while.

For example, having the 8.30pm episode set before the 7.30pm one, with an event occurring at the end of the 7.30pm episode and then the second explaining the build up to it.

Obvious example but say the first episode ended up with Maria catching Liam and Carla in bed, the second would then go back a few hours and tell the story of how they ended up there, rather than just going straight into the fall out.

Or similarly having the two episodes follow the same story from different angles - obvious example again but perhaps something around Violet and Sean, with one episode looking at their situation from his point of view, the next from hers.

I know it's not traditional Corrie, but really neither is double episodes twice a week.
