They could've gone a little further with the revamp - if only to have an excuse to put a new door in to go through to the smoking area in the backyard. This could've given the opportunity to "get the builders in" as a smoke-screen to twiddle the back hallway around and make the layout of the rear more realistic. I guess the Rovers is a fixed set so would need a more extensive reorganisation of the studio to do this though

Are we supposed to believe Vernon was responsible for that - it looks quite tasteful.
Shame though they didn't have the balls do really revamp the place - giving it a trendy interior and p***ing off Norris and co. would have been quite a good storyline.
Yes, I think it needs something more significant. I don't really like the new look at all.

A nice revamp although reminiscent of Laura Ashley circa 1995 but it's getting there.

Going by those photos im not keen either - its looks the same but different if you see what I mean. Very 1980s which is the last time it was revamped. A completely new style would have been better.

I'm not too keen on it either, but they are trying to reflect reality. Most pubs have had some sort of refresh/re-paint since the smoking ban came in, and the Rovers is no different to any other back-street-boozer in that respect.
You have to remember that somewhere that small couldn't make big structural changes because:
It would be too expensive
They would have to stay open while it was done (you lose the licence otherwise)

If anyone can find an example of a swapped baby since 1990 in the UK I might be prepared to accept the whole damn storyline.

Hospital 'sorry' for baby mix-up
Hospital bosses have apologised to two mothers after their babies were accidentally swapped.
One of the babies was breast-fed by the wrong mother and had to undergo a number of checks including an HIV test.
The mistake happened at Bassetlaw Hospital, Worksop, Nottinghamshire late last year.
A hospital spokesman said an investigation had begun into what was an "extraordinary and most unfortunate incident which we deeply regret."
This incident is the subject of appropriate action with the staff involved
Hospital trust spokesman
A member of staff at the hospital or a relative reported ther incident after the maternity unit was given an "excellent" rating by the Healthcare Commission in its recent report, it is believed.
The error happened after the babies were separated from their mothers - one is believed to be Polish, the other local - for an unknown reason.
When the babies were returned to the mothers they were accidentally swapped before staff realised the mistake.
A spokesman for Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said: "We can confirm that there was a most unfortunate, isolated incident in which two babies were mistakenly given to the wrong mothers for a brief time.
"Although every baby has an identification band, it is apparent that these were not checked properly with the result that babies were not given to their own mothers and one child was fed once.
"This incident is the subject of appropriate action with the staff involved. Both mothers have had an apology and a full explanation."

Ok I'll accept the storyline, I'm actually liking the way the story is developing now as it happens. I can see that it could be possible for the parents not to check the ID band before removing it on the way home. Scary really.

Lose the licence? Rubbish. A regular back-street haunt of mine (and similar in size to the Rovers) is currently closed whilst they demolish an old toilet block and extend the pub and replace the loos - the whole place is being gutted. And I can think of loads of examples of pubs being "closed for refurb".
In terms of structual changes, a door to the backyard wouldn't cost a massive amount (indeed an investment as it opens up the smoking area). The other structural alterations I was on about were purely in terms of putting the internal set inline with how it would appear on the outside (this wouldn't have to be explicitly mentioned to viewers - look what they did with Ashley and Claire's staircase!).

Not bad episodes tonight but but I cant help feeling deja vu?
How many more weddings will we get where the bride or groom has cold feet and there is a big song and dance at the church/register office with everyone wondering what is going on, before the wedding eventually takes place?
We've had 3 in the last few months, and the last one was just over a month ago. It would be nice to have a wedding that went ahead without a hitch instead of a big "Will they wont they" cliffhanger, usually at th end of the first episode. which we know the outcome of because of the spoilers.
