I think the Sunday episode was far less intrusive on the "weekend" schedule than the Friday episode is now - and though I think getting rid of the Sunday Emmerdale is the right decision, I'm not convinced with Corrie.

And also at least with Corrie firmly at 7.30pm we had none of this stupid 7.50pm/9.20pm start time rubbish!

Though I wouldn't be complaining if they did what Jez did and dropped it to 4 a week (going back to 3 would be too much of a cull IMO), it's more the double episodes than the number of episodes which is the problem at the moment - and really I think ITV should just bite the bullet and put it at 7.30pm each weeknight, freeing up the 8pm stuff for other programming.

The problem at the moment though is ITV simply don't have that other programming!

I agree about the Sunday Emmedale. I think the fact that Corrie isnt on every weeknight meant a Sunday episode was OK - with Emmerdale they had 6 episodes a week, and now have 5 with 1 of those being a 1 hour episode. Both those situations are overkill IMO.

Id rather they didnt show Corrie every weeknight at 7.30pm - I prefer the double episodes to that as it would mean not having a longer "break" between episodes if you see what I mean. The aussie soaps are at a different pace so suit the 5 episodes a week situtation better IMO, but I find im bored of Hollyoaks sometimes and it was better at 3 a week.

The fact ITV dont have other programme to replace it with is a poor excuse - Corrie and Emmerdale houldnt be churned out to the amount it has been just because they cant come up with sucessful ideas.

PS Im not watching Corrie at the moment as ive just got home so im going to watch my 46 minutes of Corrie alltogether Wink

Bill Tarmey gave an emotional performance tonight. Very sad.

He did. Very well directed too. They kept the camera on Jack for a long time without switching, it was very nicely timed.

I echo the comments about Bill Tarmey's wonderful performance tonight. Especially the end scene... so touching and emotional.

Yeah brilliant performance.

Ta-ra Vee.

Also loved the small chat in the Kabin with Rita and Emily talking about Elsie Tanner, Ida, Ivy and Vera's factory days.

Yeah I loved that too. Also nice that Liam mentioned that Vera worked at the factory.

One thing is that Nigel Pivaro really can't act. But still it was great to see Terry tonight even if he is now the same size as his father!

Perfect episodes tonight, really justified the double bill.

Bill Tarmy's performance was superb, the writing very good all round (I did skip the Ryan, Morons and much of Liam and Maria's bits though!)

I noticed that too. Even without any words being spoken, the lingering shot of Jack's face at the funeral conveyed the emotion brilliantly.

One thing though - when did Ashley and Claire get back together? I can only think I must either have been on holiday at the time or maybe the scenes were so dull I've totally blanked them from my mind (more likely).

They got back together quite a few months ago. After the sheer boredom of the "Casey" storyline the writers have obviously decided to rest these sleep-inducing characters.

I'm still hoping for a storyline where Ashley goes mad with a meat-cleaver from his shop: kills his wife, the Morons and Dev. Finally getting a life sentence with no possibility of parole. I can dream can't I?
