Another two classic corries tonight!

The Karen and Steve storyline is great and is actually believeable!!!!!! Karen will sorely be missed from the street and I think ITV bosses should retain her. The chemistry between Steve and Karen is great and im sure there are many more great storylines awaiting the couple.

Another pat on the back for Corrie!

Absolutely. I really think she's the best actor they've got, and I'll miss the Karen/Steve double-act when she's gone. I'm amazed that the bosses wouldn't increase her salary from £60,000. In TV pay terms, surely she's worth more than half a Christa Ackroyd! Wink

It'll be interesting to see what she goes on to do. I hope she doesn't just end up in the ex-soap graveyard that is The Bill/Holby City/Heartbeat/The Royal/Where The Heart Is.

Yes it a shame Karen is leaving, as she is a great character. It’s also a shame Suranne quit because they wouldn’t give her more money. Barbara Knox (Rita) is the highest paid, and although she is a brilliant actress some episodes she has hardly any lines so she is the highest paid for the least work. One episode this year she said just 6 words which were “I think you should leave, Tracey” – that was at Steve/Karen’s wedding, for the rest of that episode she was an extra in the background and she would have got £1700 for that, so no wonder some of the younger stars want more money.

Great to see TV Choice/TV Quick having Corrie covers this week, Whats on TV had EE with Kat leaving Alfie or something, like who cares? There were pictures in TV Quick from the awards held last week.

Though it was on 2 hours later than billed for some stupid reason, but I enjoyed the Platts Family Album tonight, very good stuff on there, though I thought most of it would be about Hillman, there was plenty of archive stuff such as Ivy and Carmel, brilliant. Though what Helen Worth said was right, that the Platts really didn't take off until 2000 after they introduced the new Sarah and David.

Plus the woman who played Carmel looks scarier now than what she did then! Laughing

It didn't occur to me until Helen Worth pointed it out, but Gail really is just Ivy reincarnated.

Whilst on the subject, I wonder what Lynne Perrie thinks of her brother appearing last night in the show which sacked her.

I think it was moved due to the first episode having poor viewing figures, this is the latest in a long line of ITV1 shows moved out of their original slots. I thought the Platt one was very good, nice to see some clips of Gail when she first arrived 30 years ago, and some of Carmel the nanny from hell and Poison Ivy.

I thought the one last week got 5.2 million viewers, now for a show that isn't The Bill on at 8pm on a Wednesday night, that isn't too bad IMO.

If it did bad it would probably be shown at 11.30pm on Sunday night.

Well 5 million isnt really all that high for peaktime considering it was a doco about Corrie - ITV's flagship show, perhaps they expected more than 5.2 million?

I dont see why else they would have moved it other than thinking the Bill would pull in a few more viewers at 8pm

I would say the schedule change was more to do with Steel River Blues than the Corrie Special. It wasn't a good move to put The Bill 8.30 - 9.30 and Steel River Blues in the 9.30 - 10.30 slot as it didn't perform that well, people were already into the Indiana Jones movie on BBC.

Very funny observation - and quite true!

It's also at these times when the veins in her neck get so prominent they get their own credit at the end.

Yes that was probably the reason, but how do they expect people to get into a new series like Steel River Blue’s when it is moved around the schedule all the time, one week its 9.30pm, then its 9pm, then its moved at such short notice that some people may not have known about the time change, and they wonder why people don’t watch. I still think the Corrie special should have got more than 5 million; surely anything to do with Corrie should get more than that.

Last night’s episode of Corrie – zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, apart from Steve/Karen who were great as always. Im sick of Leanne, and Dev/Sunita too.

Yesterday’s Granada Plus episode was good with Phyllis, Mave and Derek and the poetry competition! Laughing I also like the storylines with Deirdre/Tracey, and Denise as well.

Well it looks like Corrie is having 2 episodes this Christmas. Someone at Digital Spy has found out:

Corrie is on at 7.30 and 8.30 and EastEnders at 6.00 and 8.00. Emmerdale has an hour long special at 6.30. Whats funny is that the second ep of Corrie is on for 35 minutes and the only time I can remember them doing that is when Richard confessed.

I personally think that the two episodes is quite a good idea, hour long episodes are hard to cope with sometimes.
