According to DS there will be a tribute show to Vera on Sunday 3rd Feb at around 6pm.

I should think so as well. Vera is one of the shows longest serving and most memorable characters. I hope they show her first appearance from 1974 with Ivy working at the warehouse. That is a clip that has rarely been seen. I read in Liz's autobiography that she was only asked to do 2 episodes and never expected to become a regular. That was also 5 years before Bill joined the cast as Jack.

Should work now, though I've been having trouble with a few DS articles lately.

I just read this sort of spoiler about Mel's police job:

Quote:
It might not be what Jerry would have wanted for his daughter, but he's proud that she's fulfilling her ambitions and throws a party for her at t'Rovers. “Have you felt any collars yet?” Steve McDonald asks her.

Since we've just heard that Mel's police colleague Abi Sharpe is going to be involved in future episodes, it seems that the scriptwriters are planning some interesting police-related plots.

Not ANOTHER Morton party.... I've lost count of them now - it really doesn't make me like them any better! As for police-related plots, I really hope not, Corrie isn't The Bill - it'll be yet more padding if they do have police-related plots.

Interesting and Mel Morton do not go together.

I concur. Didn't they try this with Curly's 2nd wife? I seem to recall her best ever scene was the one where she died (?), and I'm sure that was through relief at the loss of the character rather than any sentiment.

Donna and that other bloke are in the Police now on Emmerdale yet there isn't really any police related plots, except for them obviously turning up to every crime that takes place

I imagine it will be like Martin Platt, who dealt with everyone ever admitted to Weatherfield General during his time there (mostly his own family!)

Emma Watts did not die. She and Curly left the street and went to Newcastle( I think)

They did have some police plots yes, and they were all dull as dishwater too - her departure was a huge relief.

Clearly the move to Newcastle with Curly didn't go well as she changed her name and got a promotion and transfer to Leatherbridge in Birmingham (it is the same actress in Doctors isn't it?)!

Exactly. Such a badly cast/written character too - she's supposed to be Darryl's twin, but comes across as in her late 20's or something.

My apologies, I had tried to remove the entire sequence of plots from my long-term memory.

Isn't moving to Newcastle almost the same as death? Laughing Certainly being exiled to lunctimes on BBC One wasn't an upwardly mobile career move.
