Well Corrie seems to be suffering tonight. Poor scripting. Thank goodness for Betty and the Jack and Vera scenes.

A question about the new schedule
At the moment we basically have 4 'episodes', just that one is an hour and split in two parts
I wonder will Friday also be an hour split into two and therefore Corrie will end up being written as 3 episodes, or could we have a situation where there is a dramatic ending at 8pm on Friday and then 8.30pm starts on a different day with a different family sat eating breakfast
To stop the new schedule limiting the number of days that stuff can happen, could we have a night time falling half way through an episode?
Personally I'm not sure about this lack of a Sunday episode, they should just move DOI 20 mins earlier and Heartbeat 10 mins later to accomodate Corrie at 7.30

This from The Stage:
Similarly, Coronation Street is no longer open for business of a weekend, although similarly it has not reduced the number of weekly episodes it delivers to the network. From now on, Friday’s schedule will mirror Monday’s, with two episodes at 7.30pm and 8.30pm (with an episode of EastEnders sandwiched between over on BBC1). Now, Corrie’s twin episodes on Mondays have been running for some time, so the producers are used to the structure. Time and again, storylines have come to the boil within the first episode on a Monday, ratcheting up the tension to a cliff-hanger that ensures that even if the masses switch over to Albert Square straight after, they’ll be back to watch the denouement in half an hour.
Trouble is, the setup for that first Monday episode has often played out in the Sunday episode the day before. When it’s at the top of its game, that trilogy of episodes has allowed some of the Street’s finest storylines to shine.
I’m sure that as the new structure beds in, the writers will find ways of marrying the schedule to the storylines. But it won’t happen overnight, especially as both soaps are losing their producers at the same time (hmmm… I wonder if there’s more of a connection there than we’ve been told?)
I think over time the Friday episodes will follow the Monday's episodes, to make viewers comeback at 8.30.

Well at the moment it looks like the Friday 8.30pm episode will be the Sunday episode brought forward which is why we have 6 episodes this week with the extra one on Friday at 8.30pm. Whether this will change in the future I dont know but the writers wouldnt have known about the changes to the schedule at the time of writing these episodes.
I agree about the Sunday Corrie - but no doubt they feel they need the episode more on Friday as a strong lead into their 9pm dramas rather than Sunday when they have Dancing on Ice.

Its really annoying, not only did they run a promotion for new drama Honest over the end of Emmerdale, the announcer mentioned it before Corrie and then we got that as well. They must be really desperate to promote these new series.
