In contrast to you Jez, I'm glad he's leaving. This year has just been bloody terrible.

I'm glad he's going too. Lately I've not cared if I've missed episodes, even well flagged up "big" ones. My parents have stopped watching for the first time 40 years.

The show limps from bad to worse. The first half of the year I was bored rigid with the Charlie/Tracey stuff, the second with David etc. There's been some bad new characters (including the new bookies), and others are over-used. The writers wear characters and plots out - I hope we don't see David & the Platts in any storylines until Easter at least. I've stopped caring.

The whole "swapped baby" thing with Ryan and Michelle is so far-fetched I can't be bothered to watch those bits.

2008 needs to be better.

Start with axing Dev - he's become a very bad panto character - and dump that mess of an unrealistic shop set.

Stop making all of the teenagers bitches/nasty - Roisie's done her nasty stint, lets see her grow up into a more positive young woman and not just a-n-other soap bitch. YAWN. She can still have a flirty man-eating edge, but make her more 3D and not just drop out of school/uni, please.

Get rid of the Mortons - Daryll perhaps excepted as I'm warming to him when he plays against other characters, but the rest are pointless - especially Sinbad. I'm so relieved they split him from Eileen - they didn't gel at all.

Take some focus off Steve - he's great but in it a little too much.

I've not even been on here to chat much about the show this year - I've had nothing positive to say! I've got this off my chest now though!

Completely agree with everything you say Pootle, and it's nice to know that it's not just a couple of us that feel this way.

Before Christmas she was in year two at Primary school in Weatherfield and now suddenly she's in year one at the Scuola elementare in Millan. Confused

Perhaps they start school a year later in Italy? Our education system is often criticised for having compulsory education start so early.

Children start school aged 6 in Italy, in Hungary it's 7.

Anyway I work in a school and know the proceedure, you can't just wip your kid out of class on a Friday and start them in a new school on Monday, there are lot of proceedures to go through to ensure the child recieves the same level of education in their new school so Beth's reports and files would have to be sent so the school in Milan would know what stage she is at with her learning..

regardless of Bethany's education at no point have we seen Sarah tell Bethany she is emigrating, she is just going without any fuss, totally unrealistic as a far as the child is concerned.

True, but he could also be getting the message that viewers are happy?

One look on internet forums would subvert this notion very quickly.

If people feel so strongly about Coro, maybe it would be more constructive if people spent energy on writing letters to the likes of Steve Frost-- rather than polemicising on here all the time? Just a suggestion

Surely a letter/critique to Steve Frost would have a direct effect and be more useful? At least he would certainly be under no illusion of people's feelings then.

I doubt if Coro was that bad, that people would stick with it. After all, Eastenders saw its viewing figures slump a lot when it went through its "bad patch" IIRC? With programmes that are truly dire, there are no excuses to watch them for the sake of it in the age of digital TV, DVD players and the Internet.

I would agree that the programme is not at its best currently. Rather than adding superfluous characters, they could do with trimming the cast down I feel. Although the comedy storylines are great, we could do with a good slow-burner dramatic storyline or two I feel-- rather than affairs all the time

It would be interesting to see what a new producer would do... like Steve Frost or not, there are far worse programmes on TV than Coro Laughing

it's not, never Rolling Eyes

I can expect a certain amount of realism from a soap can't I

such as 2 up 2 down houses accommodating 8 people Laughing

On the itv.com/corrie website their is an article on spoilers for next year. Plus it asks for viewers to write in to see what they would like to happen on the show. It then says itv.com will choose the best emails, and put them on the website. That will be none then, as I doubt ITV would want to have comments on the website saying how crap it is.

However, maybe 2008 will be better.. (long pause..) or possibly not. Emmerdale is going the same way apparently, according to people I know who watch it.

I think there is a bit of a bandwagon being jumped on here. So EastEnders have a good Christmas Day episode, which is automatically compared with Coronation Street and now suddenly Corrie is apparantly dreadful with every man and his dog coming on expressing this view

Not at all. I've been expressing my dislike for the current state of the show for sometime now. No bandwagon jumping here mate. I truly believe it's in a terrible state now, and it has absolutely nothing to do with EastEnders, and everything to do with Steve Frost and how he's managed to run it into the ground.

I thought at the start of David going bad, it was good, but now the storyline has dragged out for too long. I just want Sarah to leave with David.

It's a shame Jason isn't going with Sarah and Beth.. well that's what I've heard.
