Anyone see the crap shot of the fake Street tonight?

Yes. Surely there's another way to mask that edge of the set? That fake picture behind the viaduct just looks so.. "fake".

it looks even more fake when the sun is shining as the photo was taken on a dull day, and those cars haven't moved since 2002.

why not stick up a blue screen and do a bit of CGI, or just cut the crap and have the road run down to the blank studio wall and round the corner

Eastenders manage to convincingly hide the ends of their set by incorporating studio buildings and private houses into the backgrounds

It's extra character overload in Corrie at the moment, Jim is back (so he is), the two new bookies and now Audrey's Stephen is returning.

In other news, Jim gave us a "catch yourself on" tonight and the Salon has had a makeover over night.

And "big house" and "get the crack"... I spoke to soon Laughing

I thought the salon had changed, very quick decorators Audrey had in Wink

Shades of Jim Fenner in the new turf accountant character, so he may become another Sinbad Wink

After blitzing every new episode of Coronation Street (save for the first one on Mondays) with pop-up messages inviting us to visit the website or cough up for a text message service, it made a nice change to see that there was no marketing blurb over the closing scenes of Friday's episode.

Like one of Pavlov's dogs, I was clenching my teeth in readiness for its appearance!

If it was a cock-up where someone forgot to push a button or the equipment failed, then let's hope for more cock-ups in future. If on the other hand, someone is finally toning down this intrusive, aggressive promotional guff, then thank God someone at ITV has seen sense.

Fingers crossed that there's no screen-blight on Sunday's episode!

I have to say I am absolutely hating these bookies characters. They're too like the Dryiscal (spelling?) brothers off Only Fools, apart from played badly. The acting, particularly of the son, is horrendous!

I'll give them a couple of months before I decide. Matthew Crompton was far better at playing an affable, bubbly character (IE Sam Harker in The Bill ). He's too soft to play a hard nut I think.

If, indeed, you were clenching in anticipation of these advertisements, maybe you should watch Corrie on STV via sky. They don't play those out.

True, but STV then go and spoil things by squeezing the new closing credit sequence, which was designed not to be squeezed!

UTV probably does it best - they have no pop-ups and have promos designed for the new style credits.

But I usually get an ear-bashing from my other half when I switch because she gets excited by all the commercials for shops she's never heard of before and then realises she can't visit them without taking a flight or a ferry Smile

Fair enough. Just don't clench so much that you prolapse.
