I've yet to see contributions from Eileen Derbyshire and Maggie Jones in any of these clips shows. It's just a shame we don't see more from them off-screen.

A shame Eileen doesnt give interviews or contribute to these shows - id love to hear her views on storylines like Emily marrying Arnold the bigamist in tonights special instead of far too long on other more recent storylines. Apparently she is a very private person.

Maggie Jones has contributed to these shows occasionally in the past, but not very often. She talks quite posh in real life.

Barbara hasnt before which is why im surprised she on Fridays special, and only last week she was on that Bafta programme. Maybe she will start giving interviews on shows like "This Morning" as well!

It seems ITV are getting all serious on copyrights over at YouTube now, they've closed a persons account whose Corrie clips were real classics.

And if you think Steve Frost has done a bad job all I can say is the producer of Emmerdale has been far worse as I stopped watching that last year after watching for over a decade, so I hope Corrie dont get her.

Quite. At times Emmerdale has been like a bad episode of Bad Girls - the recent episode with Jo in the balloon and the goat chewing the rope being a case in point. That's what Neighbours were doing in the early days!

A friend of mine who used to love Emmerdale a couple of years ago has told me its boring now and she is hardly watching it.

Id say Emmerdale is in a worst state than Corrie is - you only have to look at the viewing figures to see that Steve Frost has done a good job at Corrie. Smile

Oh that old argument. Laughing

Let's agree to disagree - we obviously have differing views on the show and that's not going to change. I still love Corrie but I just think it's not as good as it can be.

On the topic of Emmerdale, I haven't watched much of it this year and I have been told that it's not been great. I do think Kath did a good job last year though - there were some standout episodes, including the one with Sadie's kidnap and her exit. I've never been a regular viewer but that episode had so many twists and turns it was like a film. I can't really say much about her though because I haven't been a regular viewer for some time now. I will say this though - I do hope she isn't coming over to Corrie. The one thing the show needs is fresh blood - an outsider - rather than somebody who has already worked on an ITV soap and might be less willing to take risks and axe a few characters here and there.

Nonsense, surely having somebody who has already worked on an ITV soap is good news. Sometimes taking risks can be a bad thing. IMO Corrie does not need some outsider to take over the show and butcher it to pieces.

Axing the Mortons and Peacocks is the only big worthwhile thing it needs at the moment.

My account got suspended Sad I only upped episodes that had big events - eg: Tracy killing Charlie, Mike Baldwin dying, David Platt's plots. It's not like they'll release these on DVD since it's like 500 (?) episodes per year.. Confused

When did I suggest they butcher it to pieces? The problem with the show right now is it's playing it safe, drifting along from one mediocre plot to another, giving dominance to terrible characters and so-called dramatic plots lacking any sort of drama whatsoever. It has its good points, but very few. And as Steve frost proved, somebody who has already worked on an ITV soap is not good news. Of course all of that is my opinion.

I know Corrie does well, but ratings are not indicative of quality. And I'm only disagreeing with your opinion, like you disagree with mine. It's nothing personal.

Whether you did or didn't I'm stating the facts from what I've realised.

Emmerdale tends to be very set in its ways. I.e. its rich side/poor side divides, the eccentric oldies and nosey neighbours.

That's the basic set-up of every Soap. Rolling Eyes They're all the same just with different accents.
