And if you think Steve Frost has done a bad job all I can say is the producer of Emmerdale has been far worse as I stopped watching that last year after watching for over a decade, so I hope Corrie dont get her.

Quite. At times Emmerdale has been like a bad episode of Bad Girls - the recent episode with Jo in the balloon and the goat chewing the rope being a case in point. That's what Neighbours were doing in the early days!

A friend of mine who used to love Emmerdale a couple of years ago has told me its boring now and she is hardly watching it.

Id say Emmerdale is in a worst state than Corrie is - you only have to look at the viewing figures to see that Steve Frost has done a good job at Corrie. Smile

Emmerdale is absolutely shocking at times, yet they pump out more of the same. If they are beating EastEnders when put up against each other, Emmedale is winning by default (the choice is between high camp and doom and gloom).

But do viewing figures mean that much. I think Corrie is like Enders watched out of habit. I mean all those coffin dodgers just sitting their unable to reach the remote might account for a few things Razz

Whoa! Easy now.

Anyway, Emmerdale is kind of an inbetween soap. Some of the storylines are ridiculous and get boring quickly and if this tends to be the case the writers have a habit of trying to overdramatise things by adding incidental music which just makes it camp! I think half the problem is Emmerdale tends to be very set in its ways. I.e. its rich side/poor side divides, the eccentric oldies and nosey neighbours.

Hmm, ratings are a funny one aren't they. Depending on which side of the argument you are on at a given moment you can spin them how you like. High ratings mean people are watching out of habit, whilst if they drop to any extent, it's a crisis. Rolling Eyes

Yea so for that sake, lets just say that all the soaps do well.

Some soaps more than others Wink

Anyone watch the weddings special tonight? I thought it was very good, however its a shame they didnt show many clips from before 2000 - the main storylines they seemed to concentrate on were Roy/Tracy/Steve/Karen, Shelly/Peter/Lucy and Gail/Richard, all of which happened this decade.

We have another Corrie special on Friday at 10pm- The Webster Family Album. Im looking forward to this one as not only is Sally one of my favourite characters, but Barbara Knox and Jean Alexander are apparently contributing to this special.
