Although I enjoyed the episode, I did have two major problems with it.

Firstly even our bumbling police wouldn't have the ignorance to interrupt a wedding ceremony. The vows only take a few minutes, there was absolutely no reason why they couldn't wait until the happy couple had left the church and then have a discreet word with Gail.

Secondly was Gail's sudden change of attitude towards her daughter. OK, she had thought for a while that David was dead, but after he walked through the door there was no need to keep having a go at Sarah. It was still supposed to be her wedding day.

Although I think it has gone a bit silly - my view was always David has had a raw deal.

His mum has always sided with her slut of a daughter who should have been dealt with years ago.

Well, somebody did "deal" with Sarah, that's how she ended up with Bethany Laughing Laughing

While Bethany's father ended up getting his just desserts.

And that wasn't the only child she had!

And wonderful crane shots, some of which were quite subtle: like tracking slowly across the canal and Gail and Co coming unexpectedly into shot. The same with cars and car windows with subjects entering into shot, rather than the camera moving to reveal them - it works so well to allow subjects fall into shot rather than fawningly following action 24/7.

Top marks all round!

I'm glad that others noticed this - It gave the episode a certain richness, and no doubt caused some difficulties with camera angles, when filing toward the street from the factory roof!

It is time for Coronation Street to be reduced in episodes. There clearly is too much filler, especially on the Monday double episodes - so many scenes are almost like following the characters in "real time".

Grananda should focus on longer-term stories, and their consequences. Too many things happen, and are forgotten by the following week. Perhaps if Michael Grade reduces the number of episodes, the quality will no longer be diluted by volume.

Coronation Street is still superb, but ITV should return its number one programme to three or four episodes a week - Less really is more.

and in all that commotion they left Bethany at the church Shocked

Deirdre turned up as well, first time she's been on for ages, but left Ken at home. For some reason Emily was street bound as well

Not only was she street bound, but her scenes looked like they were shot at another time.

When she waved the car off near the start, she obviously wasn't there at the same time as the rest of the cast then when she was walking along the street after the wedding she didn't say anything at all (was that a look-a-like or a CGI Emily or something?). The bit that really made me laugh was when you saw her arm come in from the left of the screen to throw confetti.

Every scene with Emily made me laugh last night. Didn't anyone watch it before it went out to see how stupid it looked?

She was clearly there when throwing confetti, and it was clearly her arm. And she did say something.

What makes you think it was her arm? Why didn't they show her face? Why wasn't she shown on screen at the same time as any other person?

Well watch again on-line then.

She is clearly in shot behind Sarah and Jason when they return from the wedding, and her face is partially in view when the confetti is thrown.

I agree that she wasn't necessarily there during the first scene, but I don't believe the later has been 'doctored'.

I'd like to see them take the David Platt story down the mental health route and really attempt to tackle the issue rather than just passing him off as a pantomime villain.

I agree. Surely they will have to take it down the mental health route - you cannot just have someone drive a car into a canal and then carry on as if nothing has happened!

Couldn't put it better myself - just go back to the Monday, Wednesday, Friday (possibly Sunday) 7:30 episodes and it'll be much better!

Are they deliberately giving "Wooden Dev" such awful scenes that they hope he will leave? I do hope so.

His appearances for the last two weeks have consisted of about 20 lines of absolute drivel (SHOUTED, of course).

Pointless character, with no real contribution to the programme whatsover. Can't he die a horrible LOUD death in an off-screen accident?

I completely agree - they should have axed him long ago, in my opinion.

I don't think he should be axed, but his scenes recently (that business with Roy's kettle when Dev had hardly ever been in the cafe before) have been odd
