Also the bits with Jack trying to explain to Vera why he had perfume all over him - and a mention of an old character by Vera - "You smell like Elsie Tanner on VE Day!" Laughing

Such a great line - it really made me laugh!

Talking of Elsie Tanner, yet another character's coming in being hailed as 'The New Elsie Tanner'...

The Daily Mirror posted:
Bold, brassy, sassy Kelly will be biggest bitch ever on Corrie By Brian Roberts

SHE'S bold, brassy and sassy...and mini-skirted Kelly Crabtree promises to be the biggest man-eater Coronation Street has ever seen.

The leggy factory girl - played by 25-year-old Tupele Dorgu - makes her tarty TV debut a week on Monday. And it's not long before she lures married boss Danny Baldwin (Bradley Walsh) into the sack.

Tupele said yesterday: "Kelly uses her sexuality to get whatever she wants. She doesn't take any prisoners and is incredibly selfish.

"She'll be causing lots of trouble and making quite a few enemies along the way. She loves her short skirts and sexy boots almost as much as she loves bedding men."

Street bosses see Kelly as an ideal replacement for mouthy Karen McDonald, played by Suranne Jones, who will soon be leaving.

An insider said: "Kelly turns heads as soon as she arrives - and doesn't waste any time getting her claws into the local menfolk."

Tupele added: "It's a fantastic opportunity for me. Kelly's a real bitch but she's also quite funny in the great tradition of Street characters such as Vera, Ivy and Janice."

Article In Full

Amusingly in the Mirror's article, they'd used a photo of Elsie... except it was actually Sue Johnston from that drama in which she played Pat Phoenix! Whoops! Laughing

Aah, don't worry. I'm sure it'll be pointed out in the Mirror's corrections column soon !

Ive been catching up on all the episodes of Corrie id missed, some great episodes this week. I liked Vera’s comment about Elsie Tanner on VE day. And the Karen storyline is really good also.

Even though it was a bit farcical tonight, it was still a pleasure to watch the Ida Fagg/Bowling storyline!
It was complete with unbeleivable story and melodramatic characters but was still entertaining to watch. I could NEVER see Eastenders attempt anything like this and get away with it! The last time they put Shane Ritchie in drag was bad enough!

I'm sorry people but I really thought tonight's was a pile of sh*t, the only good thing was Vera looking for Ida, the thing that annoyed me was that they gave most of the programme to this plot.

The laughable thing is how we were expected to believe that the woman in the opposing team was also actually a bloke that had undergone a sex change. Weatherfield certainly seem to have their fair share of transexuals, and they're all into bowls apparently. Laughing

It was Corrie silly season in full flow and yes all a bit pointless. They usually end up doing something daft in the summer, anyone remember Derek and his missing gnome ?

Well I found tonights episode very funny, especially with Vera saying how she recognised that woman. But poor Chesney home alone looking after Shemichael (sp?) was very cute. Could the producers go at least one night without some mention of Rurrrrsie and Oakhillll, That Sally is very irritating.

Vera recognising 'that woman' was stupid. But this is soap land Rolling Eyes

Quite. Corrie introduce a quite well thought out storyline whereby a regular character comes to terms with his sexuality, then unravel all the good they might have done with this absurd casting decision.

This guy is rolled out on every comedy / drama whenever a camp stereotypical homosexual is required. Do we think he might be typecast Rolling Eyes
