And it was stressed several times during the episodes that this was very last minute - I also dont think there is anything wrong with the state of current Corrie, IMO anyway.

Is it me or is this whole building site script poorly scripted?

No it's not just you - there were a few clunky lines tonight I thought, and some characters using overly-long words where they normally wouldn't use them. Something jarred anyway!

The whole episode was a bit odd. I wondered if it was written by a new writer or something.

Joe Turner wrote last nights. Im not sure how long he has been there.

Lots of people were praising Corrie last week though, saying they were the best episodes for ages etc. I thought the impression was Corrie is back on form? And we have the wedding to look forward to next week.

Turner's been going a good while now, several years.

The wedding episode is written by Peter Whalley, the most useless writer ever, which displeases me significantly. What the hell stopped them from getting Jonathan Harvey or John Fay or Carmel Morgan to write this episode?

I agree, I think Jonathan harvey is the better writer out of those you listed.

I agree, Jonathan Harvey is my favourite writer out of the current ones.

John Fay is best at drama. In recent years he's written, amongst other episodes:

-- Richard attacks Emily and kills Maxine, Richard confesses to Gail and Richard dies
-- Katy kills Tommy
-- Karen and Steve marry -- just!
-- Tracey kills Charlie
-- Some of Tracey's trial
-- Maya's blowing up of the shops

So it's a disappointment he cannot write this supposedly big dramatic episode. All smacks of Corrie not trying.

Hayley's take a year-long break from the show. I agree the ending to the story was unsatisfying and I felt more could have been done with it but there you go - that's Corrie for you, or at least current Corrie anyway.

I thought it was 6 months she was taking off - wasnt it mentioned in the script she would be away for 6 months? I could be wrong.

And it was stressed several times during the episodes that this was very last minute - I also dont think there is anything wrong with the state of current Corrie, IMO anyway.

Well regardless of her "exit" (and her break is a year according to reports but it could be 6 months), the end to her story with Christian was rushed IMO. There seemed to be no closure.

And we both disagree on the current state of Corrie anyway so let's no go there again.

Oh come on - one swallow does not make a summer. I thought last week's Monday episodes were fantastic but it's sort of dipped again. I'd hardly say 'back on form' - it'd need to be consistently great for me to say that. Anyway, the wedding should be good.

Personally, I've been enjoying Corrie more of late - particularly since the uber-tedious Ashley/Claire/Casey storyline ended.

The storylines involving the Platts and Roy and Hayley especially have been pretty good IMO, and have involved some of the show's better actors.

Monday's episodes weren't the best - and I'm disappointed that the otherwise strong and interesting storyline involving Hayley came to a screeching halt. But on the whole I don't think Corrie's on bad form at the moment.

Yes, the Claire and Ashley thing was annoying. Following the re-write of the story, it just didn't seem to flow logically at all. Anyway, where are we with that situation, are they still separated ?

We got a glimpse of Ken the other day, who hadn't been seen for weeks, no sign of Deirdrie for a while and is Betty still in the show ? She just seems to be referred to as making hot pots out the back.

And the big question remains, will Dev ever get a storyline ?

I don't know why everyone's getting a bit flustered... when it comes down to it, he's only had a haircut and has ditched the specs!

Well the Granada stylists have done those things Wink It's just the way they've done it though, his transformation is blatantly for this storyline-- it seems out of his character to me.

The Sharon Marshalls of this world had wryly remarked that he was "geeky" and not convincing as the woman-magnet; so I think some people at Granada have cynically decided: "Let's give him a trendy haircut, ditch the specs for lenses and give him this edge overnight-- then Rosie will go for him".

Can't geeks be sexy? Sad Laughing

Hmm... yes quite convenient that Jason should lean against the scaffolding, just after David/Damien had loosened the bolts on it Laughing
