I've always thought most of the pictures given to the press were taken by a stills camera.

Alcohol is a drug too. Can you use the word "merely" to describe a drunk shouting at members of the public in a restaurant?

How do you know that he was sacked for just those things ^?
Those are just the things that have been reported in the papers. We don't know what he was like at work: For for all we know, he may have been unreliable, been frequently unpleasant to colleagues, he may have irked bosses and may have turned up drunk for filming. It could be that they were going to write Les out anyway, given that Cilla is leaving.
Given the light treatment of Bruce Jones's other colleagues' misdemeanours, it would seem Bruce ran out of chances. Given the way he has been reportedly slagging off co-stars in his stand-up "comedy" routines, it sounds like they are well rid.
I do agree about Les though-- it seems strange that Cilla has suddenly "forgotten" that she is married to Les! In the same way as Casey's kid has been forgotten about, or that baby Freddie has no hair one minute and curly hair the next!!!
