The Duckies Golden wedding episode was good - a shame this will be one of the last classic Duckworth episodes. Nice that we got Emily and Rita reminiscing in the Rovers about the old days - I like it when they mention old characters like Stan and Hilda. Shame Rita didnt mention that this year would have been the 30th anniversary of her wedding to Len. Infact its high time Reet got married again as she has been Rita Sullivan exactly the same amount of time as she was Rita Fairclough now (15 years).
Apparently it is her that Norris ends up proposing to
The Paul Clayton storyline is a complete rip off to the Alan and Rita storyline though - right down to him taking the deeds for the house from the tin and calling himself Jack Duckworth like Alan called himself Len Fairclough.
But Jez, that's the street that YOU live in! I don't live on a main road, but as I said earlier:
Yes but the street I live in as I said isnt a main road, just like Coronation Street isnt, so has no shops. They are a 5 minute walk away on a busy main road which goes into town.
Even the places you mentioned on your street isnt anywhere near as many as Coronation Street and Victoria Street have. How many people have all those places within such easy reach.
Im sure there are streets like that yes, but it would be more realistic IMO if a few of the places were say 2-3 streets away like they used to be in the 1970s/80s with The Kabin/Cafe etc.
Coronation Street is set in an old Victorian built-up area where there's a huge mix of uses - and always has been. There are several streets around here exactly like that. When Corrie started, there was a mission hall and a factory of some sort too, so there's always been some kind of mix.
I actually left out that in my street/ around the corner there's a small supermarket, council office, pound shop and an iron mongers, oh and a pub less than 1 min walk. I'll private you a map if it helps - I don't want to be publicly precise about my location! It's only a side/ back street like Coronation Street is.
YOU may live on a quiet street with no shops - millions of people do - but there really ARE streets and areas like Coronation Street that have many uses on! Rosamund Street is supposed to be the "main road" anyway - it has buses going into town doesn't it - and it's usual to have other uses spilling into side streets from a main road. I think it is more realistic to have the outdoor scenes cover slightly wider area than just the Street (ie round the corners) than it being just the fronts of a few houses.
It must also come down to practicalities of filming too - it's easier (and cheaper I imagine) to have a dedicated area on a lot than going out onto real street or having those awful US style scene setter pics of the outside of the building the next scene is set in...
If we go back to the production values of the 70s / ealry 80s lets see the boom in shot now and again - some hillarious "zoom" close ups Acorn Antiques style.... the show has moved on technically, and for the better IMO!
We don't know where Leanne's restaurant is do we? I think it's a shame we never see the Weatherfield Arns anymore - or "The Clock", or Freshcos - and I perhaps agree that having these provided a better balance and picture of the wider Weatherfield area.

We don't see the Red Rec, or hear of Delphines anymore... or did Delphines become the The Clock? We do occasionally see Weatherfield Comp too of course (last time is when David did his arsonist stint!).
I agree that it is nice to see other locations around Greater Manchester, gives a nice change from just seeing the cobbles. Rivington Park is very pretty, just a shame what happens to Hayley in it (see earlier spoilers).
Here's a street not too far from me with houses, 2 cafes, snooker hall, barber, hairdresser, estate agent, record shop, pet shop, pub, chippy and balti restaurant - it's not a main road either! My street actually has a greater variety of uses (and looks nicer!).
Next weeks Whats On TV has a Corrie cover for the big climax to the Casey/Ashley/Claire storyline. Also Rita and Norris have a little photo on the top of the front cover
When it states "HD capable" in the article it is referring to the "mutiview" system used to display different sources and other information on a single (or multi-screen) plasma display.
Im not with all this tech stuff, but that 1080i thing thats HD isint it? Now im sure most filming is done with this in soaps. The cam that was used on the Hollyoaks backstage video had that 1080i on it, or does this not make it HD?
When dealing with Corrie pictures for SoapZone, they are taken at very high quality with HD cameras. Well not just Corrie, all soap pics are about 2 or 3MB from press / pics sites.
