That is correct, however Norris married Angela later. He met Angela when Mavis and Derek had a dinner party and Norris, Angela and Reet among other people were guests.

Thanks Jez, wondered how they met.
off the topic slightly here's something I don't get. In the museum behind corry there are signs saying don't take photos as images of coronation street are copyright of granada.
how can that be when for the ten years the studio tours were open and they charged you £20 to go and see corry you could take photos and the images were not copyright then?
can't legally see how granda can enforce that on the museum's premises.
spotted a daft headline about Bethany Platt which says 'Sarah's toddler daughter
since when was a seven year old a toddler

Ridiculous. Well you all know what to do with your mobiles when you're there....

I expect it is because people would go there, photograph an important scene and then send it into The Sun.
Think yourself lucky, the museum could black up the windows, especially as you are supposed to be enjoying the exhibits not looking out of the window

I never suggested uni was the be all and end all - although there are some professions, ie. teaching, which are a closed shop for graduates. I myself was browbeaten into going to university by a school that was desperate to put as high a number of "ex-students just started higher education" on its external marketing. Whether university was right for me wasn't their prime concern. I ended up leaving due to illness.
That said, I still favour a raised school leaving age. Contrary to what some believe, it does NOT mean everyone has to stay in school proper until 18 - they would, as they do now, be able to go to sixth form colleges and have the option of vocational training at 16 with a recognised qualification at the end, and a chance to take things higher. Indeed, some people aren't suited to academic studies but would shine "learning a trade".
Yeah, fair enough. Sorry if it came across that I was suggesting you were saying that uni was the be all and end all, wasn't my intention. I do agree with what you say ^ though.
Anyway, back to Coro. After years of temping in acting roles on TV, Keith Barron signalled (in the Saturday Daily Express TV mag) that this role in Coro would be permanent-- his last one before retirement.
I think Keith Barron is a welcome addition to the cobbles, gives Doreen something useful to do-- going after him!!

Please don't think I'm slagging off degrees, I'm just trying to be realistic. Of course uni does open doors for you-- especially in specialised careers. Even potential plumbers and electricians tend to have to go to college, since apprenticeships are dying out these days.
However I think the whole notion of pressuring people into going to uni/staying on isn't right-- especially when finding work as a graduate is becoming increasingly difficult (not much comfort when you're saddled with a huge debt from uni!)

Except its supposed to be Rita that goes after him! Doreen is boring and no replacement for our Reet!
Has anyone noticed Doreen seems to have replaced Rita in several scenes? The scenes in the Kabin especially. Rita was in Sunday's when Norris received the news that Angela had died, and then suddenly we have Doreen serving customers in the Kabin on Monday's second episode with no warning. Doreen has worked at the Kabin since when? Also tonight in the Rovers im sure it was meant to be Emily and Reet, not Emily and Doreen in those scenes together. The ending was clearly supposed to be whether it was Emily or Reet that Norris was talking about with those men, but for whatever reason they are giving Rita far less to do.

Perhaps our Barb was ill that day? It is a shame she's not in as many scenes as she used to be and that they seem to be using Doreen as her replacement.
Anyway, I thought we saw a slightly different side to Norris tonight which was interesting. He's finally met up with people who have suffered like him!

Have to see what happens and if its Doreen that Norris ends up proposing to not Rita. I just hope if she is ill its nothing serious.

As soon as Doreen spoke some of her first lines (in tonight's episode) I too knew that she was a fill-in for Rita... you could tell. I really hope that Rita reappears soon - Doreen is no replacement for Barbara Knox!
