I've just been told that Ian Reddington was shopping with his family at Atlantic Village, near Bideford, this afternoon.

Well if he's just been awarded a 12-month contract I would have at least thought he'd choose Green Lanes in Barnstaple!

Don't think it's been mentioned but also in the NOTW yesterday they said plans to bring back Danny Baldwin had been postponed as producers had no reason to bring the character back and feel the show has moved on without him.

I read that as well - have to say as much as I want Danny back in the show there isnt really a place for him at the moment.

Hilda's swansong

Well Cruela wasn't that harsh too Owerleyanne, least Carla gave her the time of day and a 'reasonable' offer-- Carla could have told her to hop it. Mind you, you can't blame Carla for treating Leanne the way she does in way I think.

I presume Christmas Day could be in the picture, or would that be too EastEnders?

One article I read today (cant remember which now) said she will finish filming in October and will leave on screen before Christmas.

A Christmas exit wouldnt be a bad thingas long as it was a happy exit - i.e. The Duckworths moving away for a new life in Blackpool or somewhere, but if Bill is staying on thats unlikely. Hilda Ogden left the show on Christmas Day 1987 and it was a fantastic episode with a leaving party in the Rovers. Cant believe that was 20 years ago this coming Christmas.

Loved Carla being bitchy to Leanne in tonights show - although she was really nasty to her I cant help feeling Leanne deserves it Wink

Well Vera seems to be enjoying the sing-song there. If it's not going to be a final death scene, I'd rather a happy upbeat ending like that. It'll have to be a big party in the Rovers I reckon.

I agree with that. The Duckworths have been comedy characters in the main, so it's only fitting that she has a nice exit.

I just think it would too 'EE' to have her killed off for the sake of it, Jack without Vera on the Street wouldn't be right somehow. I think the sheltered housing plot would be good, it would give Jack (and perhaps Vera) chance to make appearances.

It Liz Dawn does pass away (I hope that doesn't happen anytime soon), then it would be only sensible to kill Vera off in that case.

Ah a great clip - Hilda was a really classic character. I hope she gets a nice ending in the Rovers like that.

I was 6 Shocked I remember Hilda Ogden in it. But remember stuff from early 1989 like Brian being killed and Reet/Alan more clearly.

The stuff with Casey and Ashley tonight wasnt as bad as I was expecting.

I agree - a party in the Rovers with most of the cast there. It would be a wonderful send-off.

the trick with Vera is she can't just go without considering Jack, it's like when Ernie Bishop was being written out the only viable option was to kill him off because he wouldn't leave without Emily.

I think a rest home storyline is the only viable option in order to keep the character alive

(I guess Hilda is still alive)

so Jez, you were 6 when Hilda had her swansong, when I was 6 Mike Baldwin was having his debut Laughing
