Teletext article says she "may" return for guest appearances so I guess they havent decided for sure yet.

Well considering she can still pull out a blinding scene despite being ill I guess that guest appearances aren't out of question. Well I'm sure the writers will think of something suitable and that Jonathan Harvey or Daran Little are involved.

So long as the evil son Terry doesn't return to raid the Duckworths and kill her off! Shocked Laughing

Apparently she won't be killed off.

What a great pleasure it has been to watch Liz Dawn on Coronation Street for the past three decades. Vera has been one of my favourite characters, and I will sorely miss her. It has been such a shame to watch Liz's health failing over the past couple of years. I have to say that it would have been more appropriate for Bill and Liz to leave together, I can't really see Jack staying on by himself... it just wouldn't look right somehow, seeing him walking around the street lonely without Vera nagging him to pieces. Oh well, let's wait and see what happens. All the best to Liz...

I bought the NOTW today, and read the full-full article (!) on the story.

Apparently the plan is to have Jack & Vera move to sheltered accommodation. Thus Jack can make appearances in the The Rovers on occasion, perhaps a guest appearance from Vera if Liz Dawn is well enough.

I would imagine that Molly & Tyrone 'inherit' the house, as it were? From what I infer from some news sources, Liz Dawn has quit as she feels she is not well enough to continue.

Can't say I'm thrilled with this idea but it still gives them a great opportunity to give her a proper send-off seeing as she'll be leaving the street even if we do see her occasionally.

When Bill Waddington left didn't they say that Percy Sugden would continue to make 'guest apperances'? And he never did.

I got the NOTW today especially for this.

A nice article, although there were several mistakes. For a start Vera didnt appear in 1974 working at Baldwins factory, it was the Mark Brittan Warehouse. Baldwin wasnt even in the show in 1974. And its been 33 years not 34 since she first appeared. It appears Executive Producer Kieran Roberts spoke to them rather than Steve Frost Wink

I think that is the best solution if Bill wants to stay on - the Duckworths move away from Coronation Street, but close enough for Jack to be seen in the Rovers whenever Bill makes apperances. I doubt we will see Liz Dawn again once she leaves.

Rightful choice; let's hope Roberts oversees her exit otherwise Frost will butcher his third Street veteran's exit.

I presume Christmas Day could be in the picture, or would that be too EastEnders?

One article I read today (cant remember which now) said she will finish filming in October and will leave on screen before Christmas.

A Christmas exit wouldnt be a bad thingas long as it was a happy exit - i.e. The Duckworths moving away for a new life in Blackpool or somewhere, but if Bill is staying on thats unlikely. Hilda Ogden left the show on Christmas Day 1987 and it was a fantastic episode with a leaving party in the Rovers. Cant believe that was 20 years ago this coming Christmas.

Loved Carla being bitchy to Leanne in tonights show - although she was really nasty to her I cant help feeling Leanne deserves it Wink

If he's doing it while carrying a passenger, that's fine. There is an exemption for drivers of Private Hire vehicles when carrying fare-paying passengers. If he was driving a proper Taxi, he'd be exempt throughout his on-duty period.
