Not a case of Wales being forgotten about, just a case of geographic ignorance. It came into force only in England yesterday. Wales, Scotland and NI already have the ban in place, and have done for a few months!
I thought they covered the smoking humorously, but why would punters go in the back yard as you pointed out? Is smoking in the street beneath them
I liked Sean's line: "I don't stereotype gays". Either he has a keen sense of irony breaking the fourth wall, or the scriptwriters are taking the p*ss!
I like the light-hearted way Roy/Chesney's carbon-neutral storyline is being played out; if it were EE, it would be hand wringing doom and gloom no doubt

Its good that Corrie covered the smoking ban in tonights episode but they went a bit OTT didnt they? Would all those people really go out for a fag in the backyard of the Rovers? In Wales the ban has been in force since April and everyone just goes outside the front of the pubs.
And the announcer at the end "the ban came into force in the UK today" - its came into force in Wales three months ago love. As usual Wales get forgotten about
