And poor you Jez, Steve Frost is stepping down apparently. LOL

New boss will be Phil Collinson of Doctor Who.

Reports of a 'mass cull' are now rife and are rumoured to include Norris, Dev, Emily and Jack and Vera. Reg may return.

And the source for this of course would have to be The Daily Star on Sunday.

What's your problem anyway, you really get worked up about things. Can't you cope with someone having a different view to your own ? A couple of weeks a go, you were praising the show to the hilt. You're one of these reactionary type who flap about in the wind and base their entire opinion on the last episode to air.

Absolute rubbish. You know nothing about me, and after that comment I'm convinced you know even less. When exactly was I praising the show to the hilt? I may have said an EPISODE was good but I don't recall saying the soap is in good overall form.

I'm not slagging the SHOW ITSELF off at all. I love Coronation Street and have watched it for as long as I can remember.

I'm just not happy with its current state. It has moments of brilliance but it's not good enough structurally. The cast is too large. The storylines are too watery.

I merely put the 'LOL' because of the irony of it all. Jez says Steve Frost is the best thing since sliced bread the day before he's rumoured - albeit in a tabloid - to be leaving.

Now, please shut up and get off my case; I'm sensing you are the next person to have an unrelenting vendetta against me from your past few posts (the ones directed at me). Go and bitch about me on Metropol or something.

Anyway, tonight's episode was pretty good. Admittedly my attention wavered hence the posting on here but the Steve/Michelle bits were nice, especially the last scene. I liked the scene with Violet and Blanche as well.

If my hero Steve is stepping down its a shame, he has done a brilliant job at Corrie and I wish him well for the future.

Producers usually only stay for 2-3 years anyway so I dont think this is that much of a surprise that Corrie possibly might be changing producer this year.

I wont deny that I am a huge fan of Steve Frost (my hero Smile ) but he was never going to stay as producer forever. I just hope the new producer is as good at his job as my hero Steve.

LOL, there was me thinking you were being slightly sarcastic but upon reading the actual story the British tabs never cease to amaze me Rolling Eyes

So do I. The show will stay at good quality then. I would go one step further and hope the new producer is even better than your hero Steve and shores up the quality of the already good soap. Smile

'Doctor Who producer Phil Collinson is reportedly in the frame for a similar role on Coronation Street.

The Daily Star claims that he is in line to replace the ITV show’s current executive producer Steve Frost in the near future, with bosses currently “grooming” him to take over. A source told the paper: “Phil Collinson is the big target and everyone is saying how he is virtually certain to get the job… [he] is a big fan of old style Corrie so some of the old big names could be back.

Collinson has overseen the current production of Doctor Who since the series was revived in 2005. On the third series, which concludes next Saturday, Collinson has had a lighter workload with Susie Liggat stepping in for the ‘Human Nature/The Family of Blood’ two parter.

In the late 1980s, the BBC scheduled Doctor Who directly against Coronation Street for the last two seasons of Sylvester McCoy’s tenure as the Time Lord, with the soap winning comfortably.'

Not sure I like the idea of stepping backwards. But you know, it's early days, may not even be true.

Square Eyes has a point, pad. You seem to have a problem with me saying Corrie is good at the moment and bettter than 2003/4. You also seem to have a problem with me saying Steve Frost is doing/has done a good job as producer. I take execption to the comment you made about me having low standards just because I have said something you obviously strongly disagree with.

By all means disagree but dont make it personal.

God, this is in danger of turning into the EastEnders thread! Wink

I won't be disapointed to see Steve Frost go - I believe that bit is true, but don't believe the axe list at all, and I'd rather watch EastEnders than have bloody Reg back.

I expect there will be an article in a few days with a Corrie spokesperson saying "Steve Frost will remain as producer for the foreseable future"

I really hope he doesnt go, id like him to remain as producer a couple more years at least , although I expect if he did that would please a few people on this forum. Smile

If that were the case (him staying for two more long, painfully slow years) I'd switch off until he left quite frankly. The story is currently being denied anyway which I expected but I'm still upset. The show has a whole has gone down in my estimations since he came along.

Here's the article from DS:

Current Coronation Street producer Steve Frost is sticking with Corrie for a while yet - rubbishing weekend reports suggesting Doctor Who producer Phil Collinson is being lined up as his replacement.

A Corrie source told me: "Steve's not been with us for two years until the end of the year so we've definitely not started seeing anybody to replace him!"

They added: "And as for a cast cull - how ridiculous. We really don't know where that came from."

They've been in dire need of a cast cull for a good couple of years now.
