Coronation Street is a Northern soap... 'nuff said guv!
I hate the way they're are trying to be more cockney than they are just to emphasise the fact too!

I dont know about anyone else but I found last nights episode so boring. Who cares about Martin and Katy - they are so boring. Sarah's reaction to them getting back together was so predictable. Im bored with the Baldwin's too, especially that Jamie - lets hope the other brother is better looking.
Corrie on Plus is much better though, and Jenny is back next week!

I agree completely. Having just got back from two weeks in the sun, I was looking forward to sitting down to Corrie, but I was a bit disappointed, and thought how dull it was. It also seemed like nothing had happened since I last saw it. Maybe it's just a summer lull, and they're keeping the juicier storylines for the Autumn when viewing figures are higher.
I'm also getting fed up of this 'cockneyfication'. It just strikes me as a cack-handed (and probably futile) attempt to gain viewers in the south. Besides, all the new Baldwins are so wooden, they'd not be out of place acting in Neighbours.

She's definally Gail's daughter isn't she!, you just knew also that Gail would put her twopenneth in as well.
That Jamie is annoying me particularly that scene where he was on the phone talking like he's auditioning for a cockney of the year award. He's the next Adam Rickett in my opinion, in more ways than one.

I was thinking how simular Jamie is to Adam Rickett, like when Adam first arrived they had him taking his shirt off all the time and Jamie had done that at least 3 times so far - the difference of course is that Adam Rickett was actually good looking (although I never really fancied him), there is nothing special about Jamie.
I think it might be a summer lull although Monday's episodes were good - atm it just seems like some eps are really good and others are really boring - last night all the really boring people were in it (except Gail of course!)

Corrie has been almost completely on location on The Street for the past two nights - with only a few scenes in the Rovers, Les's, Devs Flat and Martin's flat in the studio. There's also a credit for a Construction Co-ordinator on the credits - is there a new set being built in the studio? The Nexus is due to appear soon, isn't it?

Jenny Bradley (Rita's former foster daughter) is back on Granada Plus episodes from Thursday.
Ive not seen this batch of episodes since they were first shown in 1993 so im looking forward to seeing this, I cant wait to see the look on Mavis and Rita's face when Jen walks into the Kabin. Jen was certainly one of my fave's in the late 1980s/early 90s, my fave storyline with her in was when her father Alan was killed by a tram and she accused Rita of being responsible for his death.

I have to agree with all of the above points, after Friday's Corrie, this "Cockneyfication"
is becoming too much, and yes, it seems we've exchanged one "pretty boy" wooden actor for another, what was the point?
I hope Tommy drives "Kayee" and Martin out of Weatherfied before he goes, Martin has outlived his useful life in the Street I think. And Gail and Sarah's reaction - yes predictable and annoying, can't they get over it, it's not as if Kayee got Sarah pregnant!
It's also time to cut back the episodes to 4 again, whilst Monday's double episodes were good, the rest of the week has been padding - it'll go the same way as EE if they're not careful. Corrie watchers at work (some more committed than others) are all becoming fed up with the number of episodes and some of these repetative drawn out storylines - how many Cilla / Janice scraps do we need in 1 year ? How many times can Gail/Sarah get cross with Martin? How long can Sally keep up her obsesive irritating actions? Yaaaaaawn. And the Baldwins have gone down like a lead baloon all round - after what I said before I don't believe I'm saying this but KEEP Walsh, and ditch the others before it's too late.

The problem is when you introduce any new family and set of characters, they have to be given a lion share of the storyline to get them bedded in. It's just a shame that the storyline here wasn't all that interesting. Yes, they're cockneys, but the scripwriters are in danger of over doing that with all the "apples and pears" style rhyming slang appearing.
Hopefully, now they're there, they will start to blend into the background a bit more and some other storylines can come to the fore.
Corrie always seems to have a lull in the summer, historically its when the silliest and daftest storylines come out and less people are watching I assume.
Anyone know what the big autumn / winter storylines are ? We know there will be the build up to Karen McDonald leaving around Christmas, I take it the Mike Baldwin murder plot thing mentioned a while back was a hoax ?

I hope Martin and Katy leave the show too, Martin has always been a really boring character anyway, he has long outstayed his welcome on the show.
I agree they should reduce the number of episodes from 5 to at least 4 (or possibly three) but I cant see it happening. Last year IIRC they dropped it to 4 over the summer but they havent this year.
It might be a summer lull, although this time last year lots was happening, Peter/Shelly's wedding, the start of the storyline with Tracy and the Croppers.
Apart from Todd leaving in October, and Karen leaving at Christmas ive not heard any other storylines for the autumn/winter. I think the Mike Baldwin murder plot was a hoax, it would have been a good storyline though.

I thought tonights episode was a big improvement on the last couple, apart from boring Martin and Katy. There was some comedy at the Battersby's which waa good, and I liked the scenes at the Grimshaw's too, good to see Todd slowly gettng over his loss. Nice to have a Danny and Jamie free episode, and Frankie was quite good in tonights ep, if a little tactless.
I thought that comment Martin made to Gail about her marrying a murderer was below the belt, Gail has a right to speak to Martin when he upsets her kids and he she did not ask for that comment to be thrown at her - and if I was her id have slapped him.
I saw a pic of the Baldwin's other son in one of the papers today, he looks cute - much better than that Jamie. Lets hope he can act too.
