Also a interesting storyline developing next week:
Sean and Violet have a heart-to-heart and decide to parent a child together! I don't know if they will use a turkey-baster or not? Wink

Well it wouldn't be the first time in a soap. Didn't Jacqui Dixon use one to plant Max Farnham's seed, so to speak?

Was it really necessary to have a coming up next caption during the last scene of tonights show - and then they bloody well tell us over the end credits what is coming up next anyway Rolling Eyes

SLUGs (I think that's what they're called) in dramas shouldn't be allowed IMO, as they take away viewers' attention from the scene, meaning that any impact that scene may have is significantly reduced. They're OK in light programs, e.g. daytime make over shows, nut not I soaps! Evil or Very Mad

I totally agree - its distracted me during that final scene. Also what really pissed me off was they said over the end credits what was on anyway so there was totally no need to do that.

they've done it again THREE TIMES

next: supersize my house 8pm

as soon as part two started, at the start of the last scene and during the credits

I GET THE FRIGGING POINT Mad

I'm not watching it, I never intended to watch it and having it stuffed in my face THREE TIMES over the programme I WANT to watch isn't going to make me more likely to watch it Mad

In fact I'm more likely NOT to watch it due to the complete **** rudeness of them sticking sluggs over the previous programme, like to know what Granada and the people who work on corry think of that

(i'm also surprised that the word frig ging has been censored in my post)

ITV first started with its OSNs (On-screen Nexts) in March 2002. Viewers immediately complained and ITV's response was to remove the banners from all drama.

The ITC welcomed this decision as its audience research had shown that that some viewers were "irritated by any increase in 'clutter' around programmes. Whilst recognising that OSNs were a low-key device, the ITC was concerned about this new development in programme time."

ITV did slap the banners back on Corrie a few times since, to test the water. But mostly the pop-ups were confined to entertainment programming at the weekend.

But tonight's splurge is just taking the effing pee. They're obviously trying it on in the name of audience research. That is, they're hoping no-one will complain.

The ITC has of course been replaced by Ofcom, who don't seem to give a toss about the viewer and make it very difficult to complain.

But if you care, do what I did, make sure that ITV realise this is not on, and e-mail dutyoffice@itv.com

If you use the language of an "average" viewer (i.e don't refer to internet forums, on-screen nexts etc.) then our voices might be heard!

I totally agree Steve. They really took the piss tonight putting it on twice during the programme and again over the credits. I hope a load of people complain and its removed immediately.

Thanks for that I've sent my comment

with 'SUPERSIZE MY HOUSE' in big red letters after every sentence just to make it as annoying to them as it is to me.

LOL!

They must be really desperate for viewers if they have to resort to advertising the programme THREE times before the end credits of Corrie have ended.

Well done. I'll be sending them an email of my own. They can do what they like with their entertainment shows but dramas and soaps are a whole different kettle of fish because they require you to give them your full attention - so the last thing you need is a large banner taking up the bottom of the screen telling you what's on next. If I wanted to know what was on next whilst watching Coronation Street, well, I don't think I'd even be watching Coronation Street.

They are ugly, distracting, and unnecessary.

what exactly is this 'supersize' thing all about, have they run out of ideas with 'from hell' in the title

they could do a behind the scenes programme on the ITV network and call it TV stations from hell Laughing

anyway got a reply from the duty office, can't fault them for speedy replies, they sent it five minutes later
