Yes, it seems all bit funny now looking back on it. But what suprised me is that Rita held up a "closed for bereavement" card and simply said: "Oh, that is nice." Hmm. And following that: "Mrs Sharples would've loved that." Wouldn't she just! Funny to see Mavis/Emily/Alf talking whether they should open the shop or leave it closed, as a mark of respect to 'Mr Scott's widow'.

I didn't see the second episode, but I agree with what you are saying, probably some of Corrie's best comedy in ages now, I wouldn't have expected Norris with the hose pipe. I liked the bit where Katy and Tommy nearly knocked down Martin too, that was pretty funny.

Tonights episode was so sad when Chesney was dragged away by Cilla.
The comedy was great too when Norris set the hose pipe on them all in the back yard, and Vera having dinner with the Baldwin family.

Corrie has been really good on Plus this week, ive noticed Mike has been nagging Maggie to send Mark to Oakhill school just like Sally has been doing on the ITV eps with Rosie.
It was also a shame to see Angie leave (she doesnt come back until 1996 eps), she was a great character - but never mind, Jenny's return is imminent.

Corrie is getting more like EastEnders by the day, as well as Jamie Baldwin, today's scene with Martin and Katy was accompanied by '5 apples for a pound' style market shouting from the occasional market that has been on Victoria Street for a while. They will be dubbing on tram sound effects that sound like tube trains soon to make it more like Albert Square!.

That set gets bigger by the week!

I spotted a few archive clips of Coronation Street on last night's "It Shouldn't Happen...", including Gail Potter's first appearance 30 years ago, sitting on the bench at Number 7, and Deirdre crying over Samir's deathbed.
Most of the show however appeared to be an Emmerdale trailer, and lots of clips of Family Affairs too. Very little EastEnders and what was shown of EE came from VHS

I'm sick of the Baldwin clan - and there's still one more to arrive! I just wish the scriptwriters would stop crow-barring in bits of cockney rhyming slang and other Londony sounding phrases, it all sounds so out of place. I know all new famillies take a while to bed in, but this lot are just grating at the moment.
When are the Nelsons (or whatever they ended up being called) off? Has it got anything to do with Tommy's threat to kill Martin? Answers on the back of a postcard please....
