I find Carla is one of the few characters who plays an excellent drunk.

Great episodes last night, intersting to see how it works out. Smile

I reckon Carla and Liam get it together.

Next week Corry should be back on track with the re-written peacock storyline as it will be three weeks since the decided to change it.

there's a double Corry episode a week Friday (15th), probably to compensate for the one we lost last Wednesday.

I hope the storyline warrants two episodes - I assume it will be clashing with the first half of BB as well...grrr.

Is there anything you don't blame on political correctness Simon?

Personally I don't think Les leaving Corrie is a great loss at all. He's always been a terrible actor who seems to have come from the same "if in doubt, shout" acting school as Dev. Although I do think it's a shame he won't get a proper exit.

Out of interest, have there been any other cases of characters being written out 'off screen' like this after being sacked? The only examples I can think of are when the actors have died (like Stan Ogden).

I totally agree. Les is no great loss at all. Cant say I was surprised or bothered when I heard he had been sacked. I think its revealing the outcome of storylines which according to the papers he did which is what they wont tolerate. That and slagging off other cast members.

Reading through the thread others have answered your question but others who left off screen included Margot Bryant (Minnie Caldwell) who was written out 6 months after her last appearance due to ill health. The old friend who she was going to be housekeeper for turned up to tell Ena and Albert. Ena herself also left to visit a friend and never returned. Annie Walker also went to visit her daugher and didnt return. And of course Stan as you said died off screen. 1993/4 there was a mass exodus as Annie, Elsie and Albert, all original cast members left leaving Ken as the only original left. Also Len, Eddie, Bert and Stan also left.

I dont believe Lynne Perrie (Ivy) was sacked for her lip job. In her autobiography she says it was decided they werent going to renew her contract and it was nothing to do with her lips. lol

Cant wait to catch up on all the Corrie ive missed - plus the soap awards.

I hope Carla is around for years to come. A breath of fresh air - fantastic character

Totally agree! Carla is fab, I bloody love the woman! Im still behind with Corrie, im up to the episode which ends with Leanne begging Carla not to go and tell the lovely Liam about her "career". Alison King and Jane Danson were both excellent in that episode especially the way Carla looked at Leanne when she said "because I love him".

My soap mag hinted they would get together. I assume that Carla will be left the majority share of Underworld since Paul bought Danny's share which was 70% I think and Liam's share was 30%.

I see they have sent Claire and Ashley off on holiday for a week.

I think the double Corrie on 15th is to compensate for there possibly being no episode on the Sunday (17th) but im only guessing.

welcome back Jez

I think you may be a decade out there, it was 1983/84 that a lot of the originals left

Thanks Steve. Smile

LOL course it was 1984. My brain is obviously still on holiday! Wink

Quite an achievement for Bill Roache to still be in Corrie, now twice as long as any other of the original cast members. People also forget that Eileen Derbyshire has been there almost as long joining in January 1961.

I will hopefully have caught up with Corrie in time for tonights, Sean Gallaghers last episode.

So Paul Connor has gone to join the soap opera invisble Sad

Funny how Ryan went to school though.

'Your uncle's on his death bed and may be dead by lunchtime Ryan, but you get off to school now and have a good day, have you got your lunch money?' Confused

Poor Leanne? Ive no sympathy for her. Poor Carla, Liam and Michelle more like.

It was so sad when Michelle turned up and realised he was gone and she never got the chance to make her peace with him.

I guess Ryan had been sent to school before Michelle got the call from the hospital.
