Out of interest, have there been any other cases of characters being written out 'off screen' like this after being sacked? The only examples I can think of are when the actors have died (like Stan Ogden).

I think Ivy Brennan suffered a similar fate, going away to a long-term retreat in a convent, where she had a heart attack and died in her sleep. Think she was sacked for having cosmetic surgery without telling the cornation street bosses or something.

Of course - forgot about old Spacehopper Lips!

What about Peter Adamson (who played Len Fairclough) in 1983? Think he was sacked - and then written out off-screen - for selling his story to a tabloid.

He was written out after allegations of child abuse and a court appearance, where he was found not guilty,
(although a 56 year old man going to the local swim baths at the same time as children's hour every Saturday to 'help the kids swim' sounds a bit dodgy to me, not saying he did owt but it make him look bad)

anyway Granada were very supportive but he sold his story to the press and put in a few bits about his fellow colleagues which of course they were less happy about.

so they sacked him and had him killed off in an off screen car crash, returing from his fancy piece

think bruce Jones being sacked is a case of unfair dismissal. Can't a famous person have an opinion now?

I may be wrong, but I think it was his alleged heavy drinking that was more of a problem? Confused

How have they accounted for Les's current suspension?

Also - what will happen to Chesney considering Wendi Peters is leaving too. I guess he'll move in with Fiz, or Roy and Hayley.

It'll also mean we'll probably have a house free!

wow an empty house, just waiting for the family from hell to move in Rolling Eyes

I wasn't aware that Bruce had drink issues as well

I Hope they keep Chesney, it would be unfair to sack Sam Aston just because his screen parents have left. Apart from that he's a good young actor they can't aford to loose, he puts some of the adults actors to shame sometimes.

come to think of it the babies who play Freddie put some of the adult 'actors' to shame Laughing

The loss of Les is great news. He has only two styles of "acting" - shouting and pantomime sobbing for those special sad moments.

All they need to do now is get shot of Kirk - who sounds like a foghorn and acts like one of Burton's finest - and things will be a whole lot better.

My guess would be that Fizz will end up taking responsibility for him again.

I believe a few years ago he reportedly had alcoholism, but received help for it.

Regarding recent events, from what has been said in the papers he'd had downed about dozen pints of Guiness when he "slagged off" his co-stars. He apparently was suspended for a further four weeks for allegedly making racist remarks under the influence, so I'm led to believe.

I'd imagine that Kirk and Fiz will get back to together, and adopt Chesney. Of course Cilla is being written out in a few months, I think it's obvious what will happen to her.

He's gone on tour around Europe as a roadie for a tribute band, ZZ Top of the morning

Oh, that's so believable!
