Thanks Jez. So if Maria left the Salon leaving only Candice sweeping up I can't see why Audrey had a dilemma taking on Sarah. She still only has to pay two wages. I guess it just makes a storyline to see Audrey with another dilemma. She swims in dilemmas!!!

So what's everyone's first impressions of Jamie Baldwin then?

Also what about the whole Baldwin clan? Personally, Frankie is in my opinion now less annoying that she was when she first appeared but Danny is still annoying me.

And something completely different, can anyone remember when it was that Coronation Street (and Emmerdale) adopted the hearts credits?

Somewhere between November 2000 and March 2001. Because I found the Judith Keppell Millionaire episode the other day and that doesn't have hearts credits, its from November 2000. And I put down March 2001 as Crossroads had the hearts credits too when it first went out.

Who on earth wrote last night's episode of Corrie? It was the maddest episode I've seen for ages! Blanche has got two new friends - Wanda, an old lady with a wig and a big hat, and Mrs. Briersley, an alcoholic geriatric with a zimmer frame! There were more mentions of the word 'cow' that I've ever heard before, and 'bint' was used - first time I've ever heard it, and the jokes - "Dev could break wind through the serving hatch if he wanted to!", and Frankie Baldwin's Denise Robertson and Cilla impressions - I thought I'd wandered into a sitcom!

I agree, it was pretty mad, I thought I'd tuned into the wrong show at one point! I'm finding the new Baldwin clan really irritating, although I've accepted Bradly Walsh much better than I imagined (see my many earlier posts on that one!), but Frankie's whining voice - aaaagghhh, I've used the mute button several times so far.

On a different point (but related to one earlier post about Vera being in 2 places at once), one thing bugging me recently is the lack of staff in the corner shop and Kabin. Whilst the Rovers seems to burst with staff sometimes, and Fred and Ash have the way underused Boris, with 7 shops, surely Dev could get someone else to cover for Sunita from time-to-time? Or at least there could be a non-speaking extra in the background or somehting, anything to make it a tad more realistic? And how on earth can Rita and Norris run the shop and post office without an extra pair of hands - who looks after the till when one is in the Rovers and the other is behind the Post Office counter - indeed do they still have the Post Office element ? With the Post Office closing counters all over, surely this could be a story for the Pensioners army?!

I'm also concerned that things are swinging a bit too much towards the oldies again - this could repeat the problems of the mid-90s if it's overdone.

On the subject of Debra Stephenson's impressionist career, correct me if I'm wrong on this, but did she appear on 'Bob Says Opputunity Knocks' & was she the impersonator I remember doing 'Lou Beale' & 'Michelle Fowler' on her appearence?

(Mind you, it would be funny if the Rovers did a talent night, & Frankie did her 'party piece' !)

Now you've connected the actresses name and Opportunity Knocks it all fits into place - I think you are right. I read (on Teletext soaps pages) that she did voices on Spitting Image. Does anyone know if her "Essex" accent (or whatever it's supposed to be) is real because it's really grating, if its not real then perhaps she could tone it down just a little?

I really like Frankie - she's great. As much as I like Kate Ford as Tracy, I have to say I prefer Debra Stephenson as Frankie. Danny is good too and has some amusing lines. From what ive seen of Jamie so far I dont like him, and I dont see why they are making him out to be a big hearthrob when he isnt good looking. I quite like that Vinny .

Debra was on GMTV this morning this week and did a great impression of Lorraine Kelly!

Andrew, I think the heart credits started in late 2000.

They do still have the post office there but ive never seen it used. Rita was only in one episode this week, and in one of her scenes she was nothing more than an extra in the rovers.

On the subject of Granada Plus episodes - they have been really good recently, ive liked the storyline with Sally, Kevin and Joe. Sally has also been really good on the ITV episodes.

Yes, she's quite deluded now, isn't she? Laughing

I'm talking about the scene with Steve - she was just standing there talking, smiling, until he drove off - - and even then she kept smiling...

I have actually seen some of the episodes on Plus this week as I have been fortunate to be in at 12pm most days, I liked Monday's episode, but the way Mr Scott died was so cheesey, Gail demanding 90p! and Ken demanding his keys, it felt naff.

Though it is very obvious how much has changed in the way of filming, you always get scenes which just involve one car going past somewhere, it is far different than the Corrie of today.

Some good comedy quotes in this weeks Corrie, mostly from Blanche, "She's got more front than Woolworths" and the bit where she was talking about doing a jigsaw of Sarah Ferguson with the nose missing.

Sally and Kevin seem to be turning into the new comedy duo, line of the week has to be from Kevin when he was arguing with Sally about losing the Street Cars contract.

Sally telling him how rude Dev was, and Kevin saying "he couldn't care less if he came and broke wind through the serving hatch", or words to that effect Shocked
