anybody spot Eileen's sudden change of clothes?

found the moving of the stairs confused the internal layout. From where the stairs dog leg you would end up on the landing with the front of the house to the left, which, judging by the landing layout and how claire fell down the stairs would place freddie's room at the front, yet Ashley confirmed it was at the back Confused

which would have worked if they hadn't moved the staircase

Just a theory, but I think it was the woman from the helpline Claire meet a while ago. There must've been a point to that after all.

Casey.

Well in the upcoming episodes Clare would think its her, Darryl - the Mortons were going to paint a bad pic of Clare and she would end up questioned, a TV appeal and so on..

I'm so curious to see how it would have been.

Im glad that Freddie was found sooner rather than later. I think its much better when storylines dont go on for months and months, anyone agree?

Well I wouldn't have liked it to go on for months, but then you have the other extreme where it's resolved in a couple of episodes and I didn't like that either. I have to say it's a real shame that they've had to rewrite what looked set to be an excellent storyline. Both last night's episode and tonight's first episode were some of the best Corrie I've seen in a long time - the second paled in comparison, mainly down to the rushed ending - "We haven't found him, oh wait we've found a baby, it's a boy, it's Freddie, hallelujah!" Andrew, contrary to what you said, it was indeed noticeable that that ending had been shoehorned in at the last minute.

I see that the focus is now going to be on who started the fire but that really lacks any dramatic impact that the story would have had. I understand why they took the decision, but I don't agree with it.

Me too. I did feel a bit like I'd been cheated out of a good storyline, particularly after the excellent acting we saw last night. The moment when Eileen told Claire that Freddie had died really brought a lump to my throat. I also thought the kid who plays Joshua stole the scene with his "sorry for... don't know what" line. Beautifully done, and Corrie at its best - and there was probably a lot more to come.

Whilst the mass hysteria over Madeleine McCann appals me, I don't blame ITV for dropping the storyline. They would have come in for an inordinate amount of flak if they had run it, with tabloids probably campaigning for viewers to boycott the programme. It's just a shame we'll never get to see the story play out as it was intended.

As for the discussion on the length of storylines, I think it depends entirely on the story in question. The Richard Hillman and Alan Bradley storylines both built up slowly over a number of years, and I'm sure no-one would have wanted both of those to have been dealt with over a week. I'd hate to see Corrie go down the same road as Neighbours where a story is all done and dusted within a couple of episodes - it just makes the programme seem lightweight and trashy.

Is Claire still doing the helplines. She suddenly stopped after the Casey story.

I thought Josh was cute with his 'sorry' line as well, good the see the younger child characters used, and a bit more involved rather than just conveniently disappearing when a dramatic story unfolds.

according to the Radio Times some of the rewritten scenes were only completed on Thursday for last night's transmissions but you could tell where they join was. Eileen's sudden absence was obvious where she left as the police inspector came in to say there was no baby in the house and didn't return for any of the following scenes when they were reunited with Freddie.. Apparently they've re shot over 40 scenes, presumably ones which refer to Freddie being missing.

I totally agree. What annoys me is that those people who complain that the storyline has been ruined as a result of Corrie rewriting some of us, are probabaly the same people who would slag Corrie off if they had gone ahead with the storyline! Smile

I also agree that some storylines do need to be built up over time like the Alan Bradley storyline as you said. However something like this worked fine within a few episodes. In the past when children had been snatched e.g. Tracy Langton Barlow was snatched just before the lorry crash in 1979, but the storyline was resolved within 3 episodes.

Well done to Corrie for managing to rewrite and refilm all those scenes at such short notice.

Well I wouldn't have been one of them - it would have been quite brave of them when they would have undoubtedly faced a lot of criticism from papers like The Sun. Like I said, I completely understand why they took the decision to scrap the storyline, but now we're going to be left with quite a bit of filler which is a shame because Sunday night's episode and some of last night was utterly fantastic. Like Spencer said, I'm sure there would have been a lot more of that to come.
