guess it makes sense to scrap it if it mirrors real life too literally.

what's a soryline?

As far as ive read Freddie will be there the one minute and gone the next with Ashley thinking that he was in the house and died, but thats not till 21st May (the fire starts 18th). So its too late to rewrite it in parts because this was filmed last month - or can it be?

A bit of tricky situation isn't it Confused

People get murdered or die in car crashes every week, yet it doesn't stop Coro from showing such storylines...
yet it may seem a bit crass to have this storyline with Freddie's 'abduction' running at the same time as events unfold in Portugal?

Exactly. Going slightly off topic and too the dark side, but there has been a very high profile car crash this week and both EastEnders and Emmerdale feature car crashes next week.

Going very off topic but it was pretty sick yesterday how the Daily Mirror had "6 DEAD IN STAG CAR CRASH" as it's main headline yesterday, accompanied by a picture of Phil Mitchell and the EE car crash on the front page!

Getting back on topic, I think they have made the right decision to scrap that particular storyline, assuming its true of course.

most corry episodes are filmed 3 weeks ahead so next weeks episodes would have been filmed around 25th April.

They managed to edit the episodes around the Barlow wedding when it was going to be the same date as Charles and camilla, before the Pope died and his funeral was the same day.

Well, the storyline would begin next Friday - all that's completly spoiled now, but I suspect they'll have to find another way to conclude that story.

I'm 50/50 on this to be honest - they are screwed either way in many respects - and I doubt they are that concerned about the family - it's more about how the general viewer would react.

After all, if it's just the family they are worried about surely it's their responsibility not to watch the programme. And it's not just an issue for one family - over the years dozens, if not hundreds or even thousands, of families have been in that situation.

It's probably for the best. The news story is quite likely still to be running next week and they could end up with breaking news occuring about the missing girl the same day as the storyline
