Probably there will be two eps on Monday (haven't checked yet). I'm very much enjoying the Cilla/Les/Janice storyline, should be getting better. Does anyone know if Cilla and Les are tying the knot later this year or not? I mean, it seems pointless, with him just getting back with Janice.
I think there is an episode tomorrow, (sunday) at 7pm. Then there are two episodes on Monday, 7.30, and 8.30, though it said episode details may change due to euro 2004 coverage, even though there are no matches on Monday, strange. Then episodes on wednesday and friday as usual, 7.30, but it says that fridays episodes details may change due to euro 2004, though, once again, no match on friday. Strange...again. Anyway, i heard that les and cilla are getting married, stupid, im so glad that les and janice are back together!

I had the opportunity to watch a 1964 episode of Coronation Street last week - episode 357, which culminates in the death of Rovers Return cleaner Martha Longhurst.
The episode is significant in that it was the first where the closing credits rolled in silence, a Coronation Street tradition, in recognition of the passing of the character.
The main thrusts of the episode are the impending visit of Martha to her daughter in Spain, and her acquisition of a passport that same day to enable the trip to take place. And Frank Barlow has decided to sell some premises he owns to a supermarket, at a large profit, and throws an after-hours bash in the Rovers Return for all the regulars to celebrate. It's champagne and canapés all round.
As the "do" gets under way after closing time, Martha approaches the bar with Ena and asks landlord Jack Walker:
"Mr Walker, can I have Spanish wine tonight, only I'm off to Tommerolinos [sic] tomorrow, you know near to Malaga." [She pronounces it "My Lager"]
The landlord can't hear her very well and replies:
"No lager tonight, only champagne".
...and we pan swiftly from Martha's bemused face.
I think it's hilarious!

I really like that scene it was on one of the DVD's, it is fantastic in the way it is done, starts with all of the people in the Rovers singing and then Jack Walker (I think it was him) visits her in the snug and gets no reaction from her, when people learn about this, the singing slowly and dramatically reduces to silence in the best way.
A superb and an important moment for Corrie too IMO.
I liked tonight's episode, very funny at the end when Rita passed Cilla on her chair on the street.

I've watched this episode as well, very well acted out. I thought Lynne Carol's (Martha) acting was tremendously good, especially when she "dies" on cue.
Yep, I also liked Rita's performance at Cilla, oh - and her impression again!

There are actually THREE episodes tomorrow [Monday], because we have one to catch up on from Friday. The episodes were "due to change" because we saw Friday's epiosde on Sunday, so Sunday's episode will be tomorrow along with Monday's two.
They'll have said Friday's episode was likely to change if ITV had the football on Wednesday, again it would put everything back one episode and having three on Monday again... but it looks like the BBC have the first semi-final so it won't happen.
