The cast is far too large. It's around 63 with 8 new/returning characters on the way, so we're looking at around 70 soon.

52. Lloyd
53. Bill Webster
54. Janice Battersby (returning)
55. Yana
56. Vernon

Add on the new family (which is 6 people I think) and that makes it up to just over 60. Of course we will be losing at least 3 characters (maybe more) so it will probabaly balance it out a bit.

And depending on whether you include children such as Bethany and Amy who have no lines, and of course babies like Freddie and Holly the cast would obviously look a lot more!

And could we be about to lose another cast member?

I actually forget some characters exist - Molly for example, completely forgot about her.

It wouldn't be so bad if the storys were dished out more equally - how many plots has David been key to over the last 18months? Steve's never off the screen (and I'm sick of this Michelle story, it's been dragging since before Christmas, even this latest "twist" with Sean is prolonging the agony of Steve chasing her zzzzzzz).

Why does it need Vernon, Adam, Lloyd, Kelly, the new family? I'd say there were too many Conors too (just stick with Liam, Michelle and Ryan).

Make more use of Violet, Molly & Tyrone (should be groomed as new Jack and Vera), Emily, Becky (growing on me), Kevin (has become a nodding dog), move Kirk and Fiz onto sharing a flat.

Don't bring back Janice either - not missed, not needed.

The writers / producers seem to have their handful of favourites amongst the cast, the rest are bit parts, and this is bad for the show I think.

Hurrah! Let's hope they get rid of him and his unrealsitc shopping empire.

Molly's dad should die, and with the inheritance she buys the shop.

It wouldn't be a great loss. He's one of the show's worst over-actors IMO.

Of course if he claims his drink was spiked and nobody can prove otherwise - it's not like they've got photos of him actually taking anything - ITV would be on dodgy ground if they were to sack him.

Of couse they could just choose not to renew his contract when it comes up.

I agree. I cringe whenever he's in a scene. He shouts all his lines. My mate's parrot could deliver them with more conviction!

Is there any truth in Mya returning? If he does get the sack that could be a great way to get rid of him. She turns up and kills him.

Well Molly has been given more scenes in the last few weeks, and now that she has a job at the Corner Shop lets hope we will be seeing a lot more of her. It wasnt keen on Molly at first when she tried to come between Fiz and Kirk, but she has grown on me.

I agree about too many of the same characters getting storylines - Steve and Tracy have had storyline after storyline since 2003! In one way im glad that Tracy is going, I feel it is the right time for the character to go. If she stayed she would only go around in circles. Sarah Platt was another one who was overused right back to when Tina O Brien took over in late 1999. However they seem to have let Sarah have a break from the main storylines recently and its all David now!

I have to admit though, I dont mind Janice. I think she is a lot better than Cilla, and I think Janice and Leanne work well together. Notice that Leanne had hardly any scenes with Les and Cilla, I sometimes forget she is Les's daughter - she even said herself it was a last resort to stay at Les's house in Friday's episode.

Kevin is like a spare part too (quite apt that he runs a garage really Wink ) - maybe they should kill him off - that would give Sally Whittaker the chance to do some emotional scenes. I do like Sally as one of the factory girls though I must admit.

Just realised, I forgot to include Reet's friend Doreen in my list.

No great loss I agree. The girl who plays Amber acts him off the screen in any scenes they have together, and she isnt all that great an actress herself. I do find her very amusing though. If he goes she should stay.

As for Mad Maya coming back, I hope she does as she was one of the best Corrie villans, but how realistic would it be if she turned up? Nothing has been mentioned about her since she left. We were just left to assume she was locked up.

Well if she does come back, she obviously can't live there but would be good if she escaped from prison and came back for revenge. Ideal for when they do the 50 years celebration?
