Liam buys Jamie's house and then moves in with Jamie as a batchellor pad!

Could be interesting!

Also read that
Charlie is Holly's real father
which I'd thought from the start.

I'm guessing Liam.

That hadn't actually crossed my mind about Holly.

Re: the pub - it does need burning down, but that's too much of a cliche. Can't they just get the magic overnight decorating and refurbishment team in!

I thought there may be a twist to Holly as her mum didn't actually meet jason

If they wanted to kill two birds with one stone, they could have David take driving lessons and pass his test. On celebrating passing his test, he crashes into the Rovers Return, causing part of the wall to cave in. They could kill of some people, and redecorate the pub afterwards.

I agree - it was burnt down before so shouldn't be again (although I do know a bar that had two fires... all very dodgy though...). I think the idea of something crashing into the side wall/windows would be better.

Everyone else (apart from the Batersby-Brown's) had the secret decorators and builders in (Ashley & Claire's stairs) so the Rovers could lol!

Two other scenarios Corrie producers could consider:

Arrow Vandals break into the Rovers, spray graffiti, slash all the seating, smash up the stained glass seat backs, and
totally trash the entire public area of the pub so there's no option but refurbish, while maintaining a similar layout.

Arrow Non-dramatic option - Steve suddenly decides the Rovers looks totally outdated and needs a complete and total
revamp. Liz says to Steve that all that's really needed to improve the look of the pub is some new wallpaper on
the walls, some new varnish on the woodwork, and some new upholstery on the seating.

Meanwhile, local residents(particularly the ones over 40) hear of Steve plans and become concerned that Steve is
planning to modernise the pub too much, and completely alter the layout beyond recognition, but he insists that
the Rovers will still be a traditional back-street boozer when the refurb work is finished.

What happened to the shelf that they had installed above the bar to store the glasses ? Doesn't appear to be there anymore.

Yes the latter option is perhaps the most doable - indeed I think a fleeting reference was already made to revamping the place round about the time Steve bought it.

Great line from Steve tonight referring to Sonny: "maybe he's found someone who's got something she hasn't" Very Happy

Oh - can they accidently kill Vernon on their way out too!

If they went for the plain logical option of just revamping it I think it be Liz rather than Steve wanting to go for the more expensive option.

It be good for the show though to close the pub for a month or so to do it, forcing them to take scenes out of the Rovers - and forcing the characters to have those private intimate arguments in the privacy of their own homes!

They did that in 1986 - that was part of the reason why they wanted the Rovers to burn down, to have some episodes away from the Rovers.

I think they should just redecorate it without having a big dramatic storyline like a fire or crash. Afterall a new landlady as recently taken over so she is bound to want to make her mark on the place.
