I don't like Carla and this stupid 'dungerees' storyline that seems to be all she ever talks about

It makes the factory set up even more unrealistic than it is anyway!

All the rest of the Connors are ok though

The dungerees storyline is a bit boring, but there is a lot more to Carla than that!

I like Carla, Liam, Paul and Michelle.

So you like them all except Michelle's kid? He hasn't really been a huge character.

This whole Sonny/Sean/Michelle business is quite an interesting storyline and I like the relationship between Carla and Paul.

I dont know because he hasnt really done a lot so far.

The only characters I really dislike at the moment are Sean and Kelly. I really hated Frankie by the end as well so thank god she left. Smile

Doubt Sean's going anywhere, Anthony Cotton seems untouchable.

Is that story about Chesney finding a unexploded bomb still going to happen?

Hopefully someone will kill off Vernon in the near future-- no point to him really Laughing !

You tell me?! Laughing I thought in the spoiler a few pages Chesney gets a metal detector, and goes hunting around the Street with (as you would)-- therefore uncovering the UXB. I'll need to check that now! Confused

I imagine Antony Cotton must get loads of fan-mail at Granada or something, if they keep giving him all this screen time. According to his Wiki entry, a lot of Sean's dialogue is coined by AC himself... so saving the writers some work will make him popular with the crew Laughing

Call me strange I actually quite like Sean when he's doing his comedy quips-- but giving him serious/dramatic storylines doesn't work (confer the Sonny business).

I agree that Vuuuurnon is a waste of space. Tupele Dorgu's (Kelly) over-acting is starting to grate on me too at the moment. Still not sure about Becky though.

Having finally got the 80s box set for Christmas, I'd also noticed the use of lots of zooming. I remember when I did a TV directors course at uni (on which incidentally I worked with the actress who plays the Grimshaws' social worker), we were always told that zooming was bad practice, as it's very un-natural - ie. not something which we can do with our eyes.

One other thing I've noticed that's died out - no-one calls anyone "Chuck" anymore, which I think is rather sad. It was such a quintessentially Coronation Street thing.

Stan and Hilda were the main ones for calling each other "chuck" - its a shame we dont hear it anymore.

I'm sure Vera used to use it a lot as well. I remember reading a Bill Bryson comment about Coronation Street saying how from an American point of view, he was confused at how all the characters seemed to be named Chuck.

Enjoy the 1980s box set, Spencer - all those Reet and Alan Bradley episodes are Corrie Gold! Smile

Oh I am... and indeed they are. Very Happy

Not really wanting to promote a Murdoch publication, but their radio ad due on air Sunday morning says they'll reveal "the soap superstar who's set to sensationally quit Coronation Street".
