I did wonder where he was supposed to be on Friday. Upstairs listening to his tapes?

12.3m (52%) and 12.1m (47%) for Corrie last night.

Eastenders 9.4m (38%)

Fantastic ratings - absolutely brilliant. So looks like Corrie will be fighting it out with Vicar of Dibley for most watched show of the year.

Going off topic, but I think it probably says more about Corrie and EastEnders than the programmes themselves:

Tonight (vs EE): 5.5m
Panorama (vs Corrie 8.30) 3.0m

Slightly off-topic but how does the 3m for Panorama compare to its old Sunday night slot?

An episode in December got 2.9 million viewers, but I haven't a clue what it got usually. I have a feeling it was similar to what it got last night, it was never really that high.

You said "I don't think the plea of self defense would work".

It might not prevent her being charged, but could prevent her being convicted as it'll be the crucial element of the court case - was she acting in self defense?

As we all know she's going out of it though, presumably the plea won't work in the end!

No necessarily - she might go on the run, or get away with it and just leave. It hasnt been said HOW she leaves.

Basically the ratings are up slightly, but the audience share is down.

Last year in the Monday 8.30 slot BBC1 averaged 5.5m viewers, so last night at least nearly 50% of viewers in that slot.

So Panorama could help Corrie further, taking viewers who used to watch the likes of Changing Rooms and DIY SOS and aren't so keen on Panorama!

I think she'll probably get locked up, escape and go on the run a few months later, get herself booked in for a bit of plastic surgery and return looking like a completely different woman! Laughing

Really excellent viewing figures for last night. Hope they can keep it up!

Confused Are they officially making another proper epi of the Vicar of Dibley this year-- I thought the one at Christmas was the last epi ever?

I'm astonished that EE still gets ratings that high-- how does it compare with Emmerdale these days?

I was referring to the final episode that aired on New Year's Day, it was watched by 12.3 million viewers.

That's a very high figure for Corrie. Only 3 episodes got more than that last year. Considering the official Barb figures usually increase a bit compared to the Overnights, this could have been the highest rating episode of the year
(Although some uneventful random episode will probably take that crown later this winter)
