Corrie got a whopping 11.9 million viewers last night, and a 50.7% share of the audience, the biggest audience share since March . It got 11.5 million for the second episode. EastEnders trailed behind with 10.3 million, and Emmerdale also got a very healthy 9.2 million. Interestingly, Emmerdale beat EastEnders in audience share as well, which is good news for ITV.

It was a good night for the soaps but Corrie definitely benefited the most. I hope we get high figures on Friday. Corrie got 11.2 million last Friday, so the murder should bring in even more.

....wasn't Peter still around when Charlie joined, so they'd know of each other.

according to corrieblog Peter left on the 9th of November 2003 and Charlie first appeared on the 10th. so they missed each other by a day.

The advert is very annoying. I think the Coronation Street adverts have gone downhill recently. ITV used to put a bit of money into the promos but now you just get scenes chopped up and put together and that's that.

I agree. And last night the announcer actually called the programme Manipulation Street - could ITV hype it up any more?

The ratings prove that the show is good enough without any of this hype.

If they hype it up anymore it'll be exasperation street.

There is an Elsie Tanner DVD being released by Network on Monday for those interested. Not a bad price at £3.99 for 3 episodes, for those of you who dont want to spend loads of money on the box sets!

The 1984 episode is bound to be her final episode, considering she left on the 4th January 1984, so only did 2 episodes that year. If thats the case ive already got that episode on both video and the DVD set.

1970 - this episode could possibly be Elsie's wedding to Alan Howard - which ive also got on DVD.

Might get this DVD anyway seen as im a fan of Elsie/Pat.

Back to current Corrie and i really love the final scene tonight and cannot wait for Friday's episodes!

Has it already been discussed about Coronation Street moving to 8:30pm? I was just looking on UTV's website and on the 'Gerry Meets' page it says that Gerry Meets returns on Friday 9th February at the new time of 7:30pm. Previously it used to be on at 8:30pm and UTV would show it in place of the network offering. This suggests that Corrie is moving to 8:30pm on Fridays because there is no way UTV would show Gerry Meets in place of Coronation Street!

I also enjoyed last night's episode. I thought at one point that they were going to spoil it with all that talk from Charlie about Tracey killing him, but it just served to show that for all her scheming she is actually quite scared of him. Charlie can be quite intimidating (ask Shelley lol Laughing )

I don't think she is intimadated. I think she'l lulling him into a false sense of security.

She's wasn't ready to hill him last night. I don't think she's put all the pieces in place yet.

It's been discussed several times over the last three years - and apart from the odd episode never happened.

I expect they are showing something at 9pm that week they want to boost audiences for, so probably moving Corrie and filling the 7.30pm slot with a Corrie Family Album or something.
