Random rumour from today's News of the World, but they are implying that although Kate Ford is leaving, Tracey Barlow will be back sooner rather than later with auditions planned for yet another actress to take the role!

Don't think they'd get away with it again myself, certainly not in the short term!

Well they did it with Dawn Acton (Tracy Mk 3) in 2002 - apparently she actually auditioned for the part but we all know they gave the part to Kate Ford.

Maybe they have realised that Tracy is too good a character to leave!

Can't see that working - Kate Ford is too established as Tracey - it's easier to get away with it when the character is younger or has been away for number of years, but I hope they don't produce another actress to play the part - not for 10 years anyway.

I think they could easilly bring back Nick Tilsley with a "new head" as he's been away just long enough to forget the previous actor (or at least I've tried to forget the previous "actor").

Happy New Year All Forumers!

I have tried to forget the last actor that played Nick as well - with Gail, Sarah and David still there they are bound to bring Nick back for a visit as some point, lets hope they actually choose an actor to play the role this time.

As for Kate Ford, well a Corrie Spokesperson has denied that Tracy will return played by a different actress. They said "we will be sorry to see Kate go, but no-one could take her place"

I enjoyed the first edition of Corrie tonight - everyone suffering from a hangover and not much else happening really!

Some good lines and simple storylines building upto the Violet story.

Wasnt too fussed on the second episode but i suppose they had to get through the story.

One of those double episodes which each just ended with what you knew was going to happen.

Surely episode descriptions should set up the episode, not reveal their conclusion!

As for the plumber - isn't that "Alistair Campbell" from Bremner, Bird and Fortune - who I'm pretty sure was in the show not too long ago when they all went to Blackpool.

Tonights episodes were ok but nothing special . Definately didnt need 2 episodes.

Shame Danny didnt make an appearance while on the phone to the lovely Liam. Ive forgotton about Frankie already. Frankie who? Laughing We have had Jamie shirtless many times before so its Liam's turn now - I read an interview with Rob Collier who said he will never strip off for a calendar - spoilsport!

The scene with Liz and Vernon were a bit crap, she was the one who assumed that he had set the room up like that as a surprise, so what did she expect him to do! The sooner they get rid of Vern the better. And Steve and Michelle - Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I agree their was no need for two episodes this evening. However it was ok as they needed to fill the 8:00-9:00 slot. Airline (repeat) with 2nd Corrie.

Never saw the point in bringing Vernon back - or Janice. That storyline with the plumber felt like it was just something for the actress to do more than anything else.

There are so many periphery characters still which add very little to the show - including Betty who hasn't done anything more than serve hotpot for about a decade!

Jamie is pretty pointless without the rest of the Baldwin's too - and let's face it, the Barlow's could still get through all their troubles (well, Tracy's) without Ken! Wink

Talking of the Barlows, what happened to Adam - he seemed to disappear!

And what are the sleeping arrangements at the Grimshaws?

It's a Monday, there's always two episodes

If there hadn't been 2 episodes then the 2nd one would have been shown on Wednesday

Unlike another soap on a rival channel, Corrie have had no additional episodes added this Christmas

I quite like the scenes with Janice. I am glad Steve Frost brought her back. Agree about Vern though.

Well Betty Driver is 87 this year so probabaly doesnt want to do many scenes/episodes. 38 episodes she did last year. That is less than one episode a week. She appears to be in good health so will probabaly still be serving in the Rovers well into her 90s. Possibly the oldest actor/actress in Corrie ever. She has already over taken Doris Speed who was 84 when she left back in 1983.

Obviously I already know that - so thanks for sharing that.

..and I also know that.

The point I was making nothing much really happened. So their was no need for the secound programme. They should have just made that the Wednesday episode. But doing that they'd need to fill in the 8:30 slot.

Nothing happened? Besides a major character being rushed to hospital and then losing their baby

Coronation Street isn't supposed to be action packed episodes every time
