Anyone watching the Funny side of the Street? Disapponted there is very little pre 1990s stuff. Very little Stan and Hilda, apart from that "woman stanley woman" clip they ALWAYS show.

Spent far too long on that bloody wedding which was NOT IMO comedy.

Vera and Jack and Bet/Betty in the lake was good - nice they got Betty Driver to comment. Shame they didnt get Barbara to comment on some of the Norris and Reet scenes. No surprise there!

Overall they must do better if they are going to carry on these special shows.

It was basically the best of the last couple of years!

Liked the titles though - I know the purest wouldn't agree, but something like that would suit me fine for the main titles!

8.30 is too late for Corrie - if they are trialing this with a view to permanently altering the slot I'm going to struggle to see it - I'll either forget it's on or it's so long after tea now I actually want to do/ watch other stuff instead instead of my habit of slumping down to it at 7.30 before I do other stuff. Oops it must've started now!

I agree. And looking at the ratings for the Christmas Eve showing at 8.30pm it was hardly a big success. They are better off sticking to 7.30pm.

I think the only reason they have moved it this week is due to Christmas schedules - Sunday and Wednesday - it made sense to move it to 8.30pm to get viewers back as EE isnt normally shown on BBC1 on those nights is it? And tonight, well they probabaly thought putting back both Emmerdale and Corrie made sense as that clips show would have been better off at 7pm than 8.30pm.

Found this article which is interesting;

Quote:

Veteran Coronation Street actress Anne Kirkbride has signed a new contract with the ITV soap, making her the highest paid member of the cast.

The 52-year-old actress, who has played Deirdre Barlow since 1972, has secured her place in Weatherfield for a further 14 months in a £270,000 deal - a longer period than the standard six-month or year-long agreement.

An insider told The Sun: "Deirdre is a Street stalwart, we can't afford for her to go anywhere. We're delighted she's staying put."

A Corrie spokesperson added: "We would never comment on stars' pay or contracts."

Anne's £270k coup takes her to the top of the table of highest-paid females in the soap, overtaking Barbara Knox, Kabin owner Rita Sullivan, whose pay stands at £260,000. Bill Roache (Ken Barlow) remains the highest paid male.

Oh, Barb wont be happy if Annie is getting paid more - maybe she will quit in protest Laughing Although it says Bill Roache is the highest paid male cast member it doesnt say how much he gets - some reports claim he is on a par with Barbara while others claim he gets less. Either way they are all overpaid. My opinion - give them all a pay cut and use the money to get Bradley Walsh back in Corrie Smile

a few actors have left because of the corry pay scale like Ernie Bishop and Karren McDonald,

I think Eileen Derbyshire should be the highest paid female as she's been there the longest after Bill Roache. The furniture for her house has been there the longest as well, it's been on hire since 1972

Like the corry funny moments programme, especially the out takes at the end. I think Roy Hudd dropped his trousers on purpose as he used to play jokes when he was on it.

Apparently Bradley Walsh played a prank on Debra Stephens whilst filming outside their house, he finished his part of the scene, walked round the shop corner, nipped into the set through another door and sneaking up behind her whilst she was doing her scene, wouldn't mind seeing that one, bet they get up to all sorts whilst filming.

Sam Aston looked very young in the outake with the dog, how long's he been in it now?

They shouldn't be paid though purely based on how long they've been there - but instead how often they are on screen.

that is true, I quite agree.

I was just saying that if the pay scale is judge by length of time on the show Elieen Derbyshire should be at the top as the longest serving female

I cant imagine them paying some of the younger members of the cast the same or more than the likes of Bill and Barbara! I agree they should be paid based on how many episodes/scenes they have done.

I thought some of the furniture in Number 1 had been there the longest - im sure Ken mentioned the table and sideboard was Uncle Alberts and was seen in the first episode back in 1960?

Chesney has been there about 3 years now - that storyline with Cilla and Reet was in early 2004 and they arrived just before that.

Not sure how the other soaps pay the actors but I do know that Brookside paied them on the number of episodes, and they all had to share one big male or female dressing room.

Barbara Knox has THE dressing room apparently - she had it after Julie Goodyear left.

I will post how many episodes some characters have been in this year later on.

Excellent episode of Corrie tonight to end a great year. Loved the fancy dress bar staff at the Rovers especially Sean's brokeback mountain!

Tracy being Charlie's fag hag was funny too Smile

Loved the ending with Danny - cant help feeling that it serves Jamie and Frankie right really. Also goodbye and good riddance to Frankie - wont shed a tear about her going. Razz

Surprised there was no Ken, Deirdre, Reet, Emily and Norris seeing in the New Year in Rovers. We saw Jack and Vera though Smile

Episodes totals for some of the Corrie chraracters for 2006;

Tracy Barlow - 123 episodes
Sally Webster - 121episodes
Rita Sullivan - 111 episodes
Ken Barlow - 88 episodes
Betty Williams - 38 episodes

Well thats 2006 over, onto 2007 - Happy New Year Corrie fans. Smile

Random rumour from today's News of the World, but they are implying that although Kate Ford is leaving, Tracey Barlow will be back sooner rather than later with auditions planned for yet another actress to take the role!

Don't think they'd get away with it again myself, certainly not in the short term!
