And why did it work - simple, it was all about Christmas - not weddings, deaths or murders!

They also don't have ludicrously contrived scenes of all the pub regulars filing out into the street as they realise that it is snowing on Christmas Day and then having an unscheduled snowball fight Laughing

Really, does anyone know of anyone who ever got married on Christmas Day?

A good mate of mine, actually. Ashley Peacock.

Funny episode tonight. Thought David was crackin'!

' Eh, is it your wife your sleeping with tonight.... or MMYY gran' Laughing

The ending was good, with everyone montaged doing their christmas thing, then with Audrey and Sarah in the pub. Such a classic!

I didnt think they could top last years Christmas episode but they did. What an excellent hour from Corrie tonight, full of humour and families enjoying the day together. I watched it with my family and we were all laughing so much throughout the entire episode episode especially when David said they all deserved oscars and then the Christmas pudding fell on the floor!

Really liked the storyline with the Grimshaw's as well. I look forward to seeing how that one develops.

And nice to see all the oldies in this episode - Emily, Betty, Vera, Jack, Reet - they were all there. Noz was a spoilsport stopping Reet have her Christmas sing song Smile

Nice to see Maureen return as well.

Overall a great hour of entertainment which proves they dont need OTT and hyped up storylines to make a good Christmas episode. Wink

Probably Jason Grimshaw's first real storyline in god knows how many years he's been there - and it's good that Eileen is getting something decent too.

So much better than I was expecting, I mean the writing was so spot on it was unbelievable. I haven't enjoyed Coronation Street like I did tonight in a very long time. Well done.

My suspicion on the Jason storyline is

The child is actually Charlies, but this makes Jason one of the suspects in the who kills charlie case

Just what I guessed.

Great episode tonight Smile

My family thought that too (about the baby).

Thoroughly enjoyed last night's episode particularly as I'd had to endure an hour of the OTT acting and plot in Emmerdale beforehand (why do so many of the men speak in fake gruff voices on there?).

My favourite bit (of Corrie) was Sally trying to break the awkwardness of the David/Gail situation by saying, "the bird was very moist Gail" - or something like that Laughing Also liked the bit in Gail's garden when they were all trying to work out what to do with Bill's clothes being at Audrey's!

A classic episode.

LOL! I had to endure Emmerdale too as its my mum's fave, but I didnt mind, it was ok but seemed to drag on a lot longer than the hour of Corrie did. I didnt look at the clock once during Corrie, but did a lot during the hour of Emmerdale. My dad complained because Emmerdale went to another break at 19.52 so I had to explain that they probabaly wanted to show the ads during rather than after Emmerdale so they could go into Corrie without people switching over. And I was right as they went to a trailer then straight into Corrie.

I loved that line from Sally as well - and Audrey's reply. Also liked it when Claire came into the garden and asked them if they were having a nice Christmas and Gail said "oh not bad!" Smile

And this was a Charlie and Tracy free episode so they dont have to involve all the major characters/storylines to make a good Christmas episode.

I got the Corrie DVD game, and my sister got me a Corrie alarm clock so I can wake up to the Corrie theme tune now on a cold dark winter's morning! Laughing

I'm not sure I could wake to the Corrie theme tune everyday! Where did she find that for you?! Is the DVD game any good? I might go and get it.

My Dad (who used to be the biggest Emmerdale fan) tried to trick my mum and sister into watching something else and when they realised he was sent to the kitchen with his pipe! My partner had to sit through all 2 hrs of the two soaps though.... he wasn't best pleased Laughing
