If it moved to 8.30 they would have to drop an episode on Monday, something I can only agree with! Very Happy

Well, they'd be no reason why they couldn't continue at 7.30 and 8.30 - or perhaps they'd go for 8.30 and 10.00pm.

Whatever happens, we won't see the number of episodes reduced.

Although the tradition of it doesn't bother me at all, what I wouldn't like about it being at 8.30pm is the way soaps would interupt the schedules even more.

As I've said hundreds of times here before, I'd like both Emmerdale and Corrie stripped across the schedules every weeknight from 7-8pm, leaving the rest of the evening, on ITV1 at least, soap free. When football displaces Corrie on Tuesdays, double episodes would air on Mondays, with the big stories timed to coincide with them.

Before that can happen though (not that it ever will!) ITV1 needs to be alot stronger in the 8pm hour.

Yes you have said that many times before, and as ive always said why do they HAVE to be on 5 or 6 times a week. Its just lazy scheduling. Part of the reason I stopped watching Emmerdale (although I probabaly will watch it Christmas Day as my family like it) was because I just didnt have time to keep up with 6 installments a week. Just because something is popular doesnt mean you have to milk it to death. Other tv formats could prove just as popular if only they would take a few risks.

As for the schedules this week, well as its Christmas we cannot read anything into it - they often change the schedules over the festive season. And this is not the first time Christmas period that they have moved The Bill to 7.30pm and had Corrie at 8.30pm. They do it for ratings.

For the record although I like Corrie at 7.30pm I dont really care what time they show it as long as its 3 times a week! Wink

I don't know why Les and Yana were complaining about being cold in that bath, since there was steam coming off it in every shot Shocked Laughing

Christmas Eve episode was very good - so David now knows that Gail planned to have an abortion all those years ago and we saw him wrap up Ivy's diary to give to his mum.

Should be a good Christmas Day episode with the Platt's and Websters!

Merry Christmas everybody.

Coronation Street got 7.9 million last night, against EastEnders 8 million. ITV's bizarre decision to move the show didn't pay off and it would [probably would have beat EE if it has been on at 7.30pm.

Anyway, have a good day. Very Happy

Yes it was excellent, apart from the steam rising from the supposedly freezing bath.
Was good with that Snow Patrol song at the end over demon David. All in all excellent, cannot wait for tonights!

Merry Christmas, one and all!

What an excellent Christmas episode. Several laugh out loud moments, with some good drama mixed in. David is really evil, but Jack P Shepherd is fantastic. Loved the three different story arcs: David and the diary, Maureen's arrival and the Grimshaw baby.

And the end was brilliant with the montage of scenes and the Queen song. Brilliant.

Jack P is good at playing evil David, all those looks he was giving when Maureen turned up!

I'm sure the episode content is worthy of getting really good ratings, even if it doesn't

Really enjoyed tonight's episode - David was so evil it was hilarious, and though more twisted than most Christmas dinners, the milage in tonight's shows came from the normality of it!

Loved the little joke too from Norris about Rita singing - we were all thinking it - and thankgod Rita got to the final toast before Ken!

Also a great ending - I know Emmerdale have done the music over the ending a few times, but is that the first time Corrie has?

Only other time I can remember is when Sarah Lou was abducted by that crazy internet pervert.

Tonight's ending was brilliant and rounded off a superb episode wonderfully. It just worked really, really well.

But the thing is, she has sung a carol this year - or am I just imagining her singing Silent Night at Fred's funeral?

And why did it work - simple, it was all about Christmas - not weddings, deaths or murders!

Really, does anyone know of anyone who ever got married on Christmas Day?
