Anyway, has the Christmas RadioTimes come out in anyone's area yet? If you've got it, would you mind posting the writer for the Christmas Day hour-special?

I havent got it yet, its due on sale here tommorow. However I can tell you that the writer for the 1 hour Christmas Day episode is Stephen Russell.

I can also tell you that Jonathan Harvey is writing 2 episodes during the second week of Christmas fortnight!

Super !!! Jonathan Harvey is excellent. Thanks Jez.

Stephen Russell is another average writer to me, oh well I'm sure Corrie will still be good - all the Corrie writers are. Just some more than others.

I agree Jonathan Harvey is excellent - he is doing the New Years Eve episode and Friday January the 5th.

I think the soap awards should include the writers, and all production crew, just like the Oscars and Baftas, then we could nominate Jonathan Harvey for best writer and show our appreciation Very Happy

That's a good point actually, writers and production crews can be overlooked by these awards. Thankfully actors usually have the good manners to thank their producers, crew and writers (often dedications by name) Cool

I suppose the problem with awards which are voted for by the public is that most viewers don't take any notice of who writes, directs or produces a programme.

Well when they give the nominations for the soap awards they often say who wrote or directed an episode or scene, in particular the Best Episode and Best Storyline categories. They often all put it on the screen.

Good idea about having a writing category though - Jonathan Harvey would get my vote. I also think Steve Frost deserves an award, he has been excellent producing Corrie - I think its no coincidence I went off Emmerdale when he stopped producing it.

Most voters don't seem to take any notice of who can act, the quality of the storylines and anything other than what's on the front of What's on EastEnders either though!

I liked Tracy's excuse for closing the curtains in last night's episode, 'the sun was too bright on the tv. In a north facing living room? No wonder Charlie didn't believe her.

you would think after 46 years the corry writers would know which way the street faces Rolling Eyes

Erm, it was a throw away line as a lame excuse coming from the character. It wasn't a statement on the geographical location of the Street.

You read far too much into these things.

Agreed. Just a tad pathetic. Especially coming from a character who was looking for a quick excuse so that her plan wasn't scuppered. Very few people would take any notice of it.

Except Steve of course. Rolling Eyes

Oh Dear... Grinch at ITV this Christmas
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds40609.html

"They were not pleased. Their schedules are gruelling and they like to let their hair down at Christmas. It's safe to say the ITV head honchos will not be invited. They won't be welcome. Coronation Street earns them a fortune but they pulled the plug on its annual party."
