I think the script writers have always had it in for David, think back 15 years and martin had to jump a train to stop Gail going thought with the abortion Shocked

and he's never really recovered from his botch regeneration in 2000 where he acquired a completely different attitude, hair colour, skin tone and facial features whilst purporting to be the same child

(probably the same casting department who recast Victoria Sugden)

Wonder if the A54 reference was the exact lay-by they filmed the proposal in, somewhere between Congleton and junction 18 of the M6

All bar-one, I suspect.

Seems the "hour special" harmed Corrie's average last night. It was still a respectable 10.2 million, but I suspect many viewers didn't realise it was starting at 7pm, as it peaked at a fantastic 11.6 million during the second half.

Well a 47% share is still good. Maybe the ratings are starting to climb back up now for soaps as we enter the darker nights.

I just read an old-ish article from a few weeks ago about plans to move Corrie's set to Salford.

I'm in favour. Here's why:

1) They would have to reduce episodes for a while to accomodate the move. With any luck ITV might ditch the 8.30 on Monday permanantly!
2) It would trigger different production values, similar to the way in which they changed when the set was moved outdoors - obviously not as much, but you know Smile
3) It could mean new opening credits - sure, the set would be the same but they are out of date now with Dev's shop etc
4) It would probably mean the set could expand and be more realistic (we could meet characters from Rosamund Street or something).

Does anyone else agree?

I agree but you could try turning back about 15 pages Smile

The show does need updated credits IMO. The music... well, it would be nice if it updated very slightly, it's a bit whimpery at the end.

They certainly are. Corrie in particular is doing brilliant. Getting 10.7 Million last Wednesday, and 9.9 Million on Friday. I suspect last night's average would have been higher if it were a normal half hour episode.

Hmm, I wonder who you could mean Gavin? Wink

I dont know if this is the longest thread ever on TVF but certainly the longest for a soap - mind you the Hollyoaks one is also very popular and has been going for over a year.

And to celebrate today we have a TV Times Corrie special with the lovely Kate Ford and Samia Smith on the cover. The article says Kate Ford is leaving in March, whether this is filming or on screen I dont know, but only about 5 months of Tracy left Sad You've got to love the TV Times though, they certainly seem to love Corrie at the moment - Whats on TV as usual had EE and with all that happening with Charlie, Tracy, David and Maria next week as well. Noooooooooo. Leave the theme tune as it is! It's an essential part of Corrie's charm, and hasn't done the show any harm for the past 45 years.

Oh I completely agree! I don't mean like a Crossroads 2003-esque update, just maybe some more percussion or something. I'd say the opening music is fine actually, it's just I feel they could rework what part of it plays at the end of an episode, to make the ending better. Just think what Emmerdale did with their theme tune. We wouldn't want a change that large for Corrie's but I like how Emmerdale's has a little more impact at the end.

Does anyone have a copy of the current theme, I'll show what I mean.
