The Monday doubles were only ever supposed to be for 4 weeks in September 2002 to boost ITV's autumn schedules. ITV insisted that Corrie werent adding a 5th weekly episode yet they carried on with the Monday doubles. I think they took a break during the summer of 2003 when we went back to 4 episodes a week. But as far as I remember there was a double episode every week from September 2002 to about May 2003. Then in September 2003 they came back and havent moved since.

That's it. It was never officially confirmed in advance. They just brought them back and they've never been stopped since.

In other news - Corrie Blog is reporting that The Daily Star reported that Ex-Shameless start Anne Marie-Duff may be joining Corrie playing a character called Jess Wilson.

It was apparently mentioned in The Sun as well. I would absolutely love it if this was true. She's a fantastic actress.

And I remember someone writing a letter into one of the tv mags saying it was obvious they were adding a 5th episode and if it didnt work out they could take it away and just say it was never permanent.

ITV are pushing it with Corrie tonight aren't they? 3 episodes tonight from 7-8pm and 8:30-9pm. Why do we need three episodes in one night?

No episode last night. It's already been discussed on the other page.

Do you get the feeling this episode was supposed to air on a sunday, the amount of references there's been to Sunday! Laughing

and closing credits at 730, bit poor.

They could have at least edited it so it linked into the next episode, rather than the bloody credits. Rolling Eyes

I think it's good there were credits, to show people that it actually was yesterday's episode and not an hour long episode, plus remember there's no corrie credits till 8.55 on a Monday

Anymore episodes and itv might as well show an omnibus edition on a mon at 7 / 7.30.
